Chapter 733:
“She’s sick, and you still hurt her.” The words haunted him.
Sitting in his wheelchair, fists clenched, he was drowning in regret.
Hayden kept talking, trying to draw some twisted pleasure from him.
But even after waiting so long for this moment, Hayden didn’t feel the joy he’d imagined.
“Tell me what’s happening out there!” he demanded.
Brandon said nothing. He just stared, memorizing his face, burning it into his mind as a reminder to stay sharp.
In the darkest corners of his heart, he thought—if Millie knew what he’d done for her back then, maybe… just maybe, she would come back to him.
The clouds drifted quickly across the sky while the minutes crept by.
Day after day, Millie showed signs of recovery, and the date of the concert kept approaching.
For several nights in a row, Myron had stayed close to her, the two of them asleep in each other’s arms.
At first, her body would tense, uneasy with the closeness, but slowly she would relax and let him in.
She startled awake less often now, no longer plagued by constant night terrors.
Her heart still carried its wounds, but they were mending the way skin healed, forming scabs, weaving new tissue, until the memory of pain was softened and hidden.
One morning, Millie rose early, dressed neatly, and sat down to share breakfast with Ari.
Myron remained at her side, quietly watching her.
“I’ll take Ari to kindergarten today,” Millie said, while carefully wiping Ari’s hands clean.

She had been indoors too long. With the concert ahead, she knew she would be meeting many faces, and there was no sense in hiding any longer.
Bringing Ari to school would be her first step into the world again.
Myron studied her, concern evident in his expression, but he offered no protest. “Okay,” he answered. “I’ll come with you.”
Millie lifted her eyes toward him. This was what she cherished most about him. He always seemed to grasp what was on her mind, understand her worries, and recognize what drove her.
He never dismissed her with a vague “for your own good.” Instead, he honored her opinions and offered help in every way he could.
Millie lowered her eyes and caught Ari staring at them with wide, curious eyes. Millie’s lips curved into a smile as she reached out to softly tap Ari’s round cheeks.
Ari beamed in return, her cuteness impossible to miss.
Sunlight streamed through the window at an angle, wrapping the three of them in a soft glow, their shadows overlapping on the wall, figures close and content, like a whole family.
Once breakfast ended, Myron picked up Ari’s little backpack, took Millie’s hand, and together they stepped outside and into the car.
