Chapter 745:

Sensing Barbara’s worry, Millie spoke up gently. “Please don’t blame yourself. This isn’t your fault.”

The responsibility fell squarely on Brandon.

No longer able to stay, Millie left with Myron, while Barbara remained behind. Myron’s team kept a close watch, preventing Brandon from following.

Just then, Barbara burst into the dressing area. Brandon had been lifted back into his wheelchair, his face pale as someone dabbed away beads of sweat.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Barbara strode over and slapped him hard across the cheek. A crowd quickly gathered at the commotion, but Barbara stood firm, her chest pounding as she stared down Brandon’s furious glare, refusing to back away.

Normally, Barbara never would have dared to stand up to someone as influential as Brandon, CEO of the Watson Group—one of Crobert’s top three corporations. But her loyalty to Millie made her braver than usual.

From the day Barbara became Millie’s assistant when she was on the show “Heavenly Melody,” Millie had always shown her genuine kindness. Even when Barbara didn’t know the truth and praised Vivian in front of Millie at first, Millie never took offense. Working with Millie was a breeze compared to other celebrities, and she always treated Barbara better than any ordinary assistant.

Bit by bit, Barbara had come to see Millie as more than just a boss—she considered her a real friend. Even though confronting Brandon came from sheer impulse, she felt no trace of regret.

Barbara’s voice rang out, trembling with anger. “You’re shameless, Brandon! Have you even realized what you put Millie through last time? Do you know the pain she suffered just to get back on her feet and work again? And now you’re here tormenting her all over? She wants nothing to do with you. She’s with Mr. Elliott now. Whatever you’re feeling—you deserve it.” Frustration fueled her outburst.

At this point, Barbara honestly felt that Vivian and Brandon deserved each other. If they stayed together, maybe they’d finally stop making life miserable for anyone else. Vivian should really keep Brandon occupied, so Millie could finally find some peace.

Brandon’s temper flared at her accusation. “You!”

“Yes, I said it,” Barbara replied, standing her ground. “What exactly do you think you’re going to do about it? You’re the one who pushed for the divorce. You snatched her song just to hand it off to Vivian. You fought her over the tanzanite she had prepared for her future child. You backed Vivian and ganged up on her during that show. And you were the one who attacked like she meant nothing. So tell me, Brandon—which part of what I said isn’t true? Look at her. Really look. She’s falling apart right in front of you. Stop doing this to her.”

She took a deep breath and fought to keep her voice steady as the weight of it all built in her chest. “If you keep pushing, she’s not going to make it…”

She caught herself, unable to finish, and turned away. A line of people blocked her exit, but she met their eyes with a steely glare.

“Let her pass.” Behind her, Brandon finally spoke up.

As Myron’s men moved in to escort her, the crowd stepped aside, clearing a path for Barbara to walk through.

Left behind in the now-empty hallway, Brandon sat in silence. Barbara’s words echoed in his mind, along with the haunted look he’d just seen on Millie’s face. The meaning behind Barbara’s words wasn’t lost on him. If things kept going this way, Millie might really lose her grip—or worse. It hit Brandon for the first time—this wasn’t some made-up excuse Myron had used to come after him. This was reality.
