Chapter 772:

His screen instantly redirected, and those three harrowing images filled the display.

Another vibration snapped his attention back. Eugene had messaged again, somehow managing to snag the original files before they were taken down. The message contained three attachments: a critical condition notice and two disturbing photographs.

Brandon’s hands wouldn’t stop shaking.

Millie was barely clinging to life.

So much blood had been lost.

He suddenly remembered that she had Rh-negative blood, and panic set in as he wondered if the hospital had acted quickly enough. What could have possibly led to this? When did this happen? How had things gotten so bad? Why couldn’t he recall anything about this, and how was he so completely in the dark?

She looked like she was dying in those pictures. How could he have missed something so serious?

Things between Millie and Nicole had always been strained. Only a few months ago, before the divorce was finalized, he was still Millie’s husband. If there had been a critical condition notice, he should have been the one to sign the paperwork, yet he had absolutely no recollection of that happening.

Brandon was completely blindsided.

He wasted no time and called Eugene back. The line picked up right away.

“Mr. Watson?”

Brandon’s voice was unsteady. “Get to the bottom of this. I need the truth, now!”

“Right away!” Eugene replied without hesitation.

After ending the call, Brandon felt like he was on the verge of falling apart. He wanted to do something—anything—but had no idea where to start. A tidal wave of fear and helplessness threatened to swallow him whole. Tears spilled onto his phone, blurring the screen until Brandon suddenly remembered the notice again.

He zoomed in, trying to make sense of the critical condition notice, but most of the information, date, and details were blurred out. Only Millie’s name was readable. The hospital’s stamp was still visible, though—Crobert Hospital.

That suggested Alexia and Giffard could have answers.

The moment that thought hit him, Brandon hurried to dial Alexia’s number. On the other end, Alexia was already glued to her phone, having just seen the post herself.

She instantly recognized the scene. It showed what happened after Brandon shoved Millie down the stairs—the tragedy that cost them the child she was carrying.

Whoever had snapped those photos remained a mystery, but Alexia suspected it might have been some random patient or their family. After all, the chaos that day had drawn plenty of attention.

Lost in thought, Alexia’s phone suddenly lit up. Brandon was calling.

A sneer tugged at Alexia’s lips as she picked up.

“Alexia, have you seen those pictures of Millie making the rounds online?” Brandon’s voice was frantic the second she answered.

“I’ve seen them,” Alexia replied, her tone impossibly steady.
