Chapter 834:

The crowd erupted in noise as the bodyguards turned back, preparing to rush over.

Yet in the middle of all the chaos, there were only two figures—Millie and Vivian.

It was Millie who stopped her.

She held Vivian’s wrist calmly, steady as stone, showing no trace of fear. It was as though she had seen it coming, prepared before Vivian could even strike.

The midday sun glinted off the metal, a sharp flash that cut through the air. A soft breeze stirred, whispering through the leaves, making the nearby flowers sway.

Both online viewers and the live audience exhaled in relief, though angry shouts soon grew louder around them.

Myron and Brandon forced their way through the crowd, hurrying to reach her. At the center, Millie and Vivian locked eyes.

Vivian pulled hard, trying to break free.

Millie was strong, her grip firm enough to keep the shears from moving.

The crowd’s jeers rose, and Vivian’s panic grew.

In her reckless impulse, she had forgotten the hundreds of eyes on her, and the fact this was being live-streamed.

“Let go!” Vivian screamed.

Millie lowered her gaze slightly, but her hand didn’t budge.

Then, out of nowhere, Vivian began to sob. Tears streaming, she cried, “Why are you stopping me?”

Millie arched an eyebrow.

“I didn’t know anything about the medical records,” Vivian sobbed. “All I knew was that I had stomach cancer… and that my days were numbered. Let me go. Don’t—”

“Stop me. I won’t go to the hospital. If you don’t believe me, I’ll die right here to prove it!”

Her words and frantic struggle made it clear—Vivian wasn’t trying to harm Millie at all. She had wanted to harm herself.

The crowd faltered, stunned by the turn.

They began to question their earlier judgment. Had they all been wrong about her aim?

For the first time, Millie’s expression shifted.

She laughed. “So you mean the shears were for yourself? Is that what you’re saying?” she asked softly.

“Yes!” Vivian wailed.

Millie let out a light chuckle.

“But I saw the blade pointed at me,” she said.

“You misunderstood,” Vivian lied, still crying and looking fragile.

Millie lowered her eyes with a faint smile. “I misunderstood? Then so did everyone else here? Is that what you mean?”

Vivian didn’t answer. She only struggled harder.

“Let me go!” she screamed.
