Chapter 835:
But Millie held firm, her eyes steady on Vivian, waiting.
Vivian still wouldn’t answer.
By then, Myron reached Millie first.
“Millie,” he said gently, standing at her side.
She glanced at him, and then nodded to tell him she was fine.
At last, she released Vivian’s wrist.
“Alright, you can go on. I won’t stop you this time,” Millie said calmly.
Vivian froze in disbelief.
“What?” she breathed.
Millie nodded again with a small smile, as if encouraging her.
The breeze rustled through the leaves again, whispering around them.
Millie’s feelings toward Vivian twisted inside her.
Once, she had thought Vivian’s desperation was real—that her sickness and limited days had driven her mad, to the point of ruining her marriage just to be with Brandon.
But now, she knew the truth—Vivian had faked her illness from day one. So what had all the pain and slander she inflicted on Millie meant?
Her chest tightened as she watched Vivian. She was waiting for Vivian’s next move.
Vivian glanced around, still weeping, her gaze turning cold with hatred as it fell on Millie.
She no longer cared. She immediately decided to play the madwoman.
Her voice rose, wild and broken, as if she had really lost her mind.
At the very least, she could bluff her way out of this moment. The rest could be figured out later.
“Enough!” Brandon’s voice finally cut through.
He staggered closer, his injured leg making every step painful, his face pale as chalk.
His bodyguard rushed with the wheelchair behind him, trying to catch up.
Eugene, who had just arrived, darted over to support him.
“Mr. Watson!” Eugene called, but Brandon ignored him, his eyes fixed solely on Vivian.
His stare burned with resentment.
“Take her for an examination,” he ordered, his tone cold as steel.
“Brandon, you have to believe me!” Vivian panicked at last. If he discovered the truth, everything would collapse—her schemes, her excuses, even the lies she had spun against Millie. And if he kept digging deeper and uncovered what truly happened in the past…
Her blood ran cold.
She hadn’t even secured her place as his wife yet. None of this was supposed to happen now!
She couldn’t let it happen.
