Chapter 905:

After considering her words, Millie addressed them gently. “Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Watson. Please take care of yourselves.”

Getting the Bennett family’s possessions back sooner than expected had only been possible because Derek and Norma stepped in—although their original plan was to see Millie and Brandon back together.

Both Derek and Norma let out a sigh. Norma managed to smile and then said, “Millie, you should join us for dinner sometime, and be sure to bring Ari along.” They genuinely appreciated how much Millie cared for them.

After a short pause, Norma’s eyes shifted to Myron, who still stood close by, and she added, “Myron, you’re invited too.”

Myron squeezed Millie’s hand with a warm grin. “Of course,” he said. Whether or not they’d actually join the Watsons for dinner, or when, was something only time would tell.

Myron gently laced his fingers with Millie’s, and the two slipped out side by side.

Brandon had been anticipating this exact moment for what felt like ages.

All the paperwork had already been signed.

Every last detail was officially settled.

He wanted his actions to speak for themselves.

Brandon had chosen to hand the Bennett family’s possessions back to Millie, making his sincerity clear.

With that, he couldn’t help but wonder if she’d give him the chance to start fresh.

Millie and Myron moved quietly through the hallway, deep in conversation and completely at ease in each other’s company.

Rolling his wheelchair forward, Brandon kept a careful distance behind them. They had the corridor to themselves, nothing but their footsteps echoing softly on the floor.

Beyond the glass, a soft blue sky stretched overhead, scattered with drifting clouds.

It was the kind of day that made everything feel lighter.

Soon, Millie’s group reached the elevator at the end of the hallway.

The elevator doors gleamed so brightly that they almost acted like a mirror. In its reflection, Millie caught sight of Brandon, sitting in his wheelchair, his gaze fixed on her and his eyes slightly reddened.

Millie looked away, focusing on the glowing button as she pressed it to call the elevator down.

Just when Brandon opened his mouth to say her name, Eugene appeared at the far end of the hall, hurrying toward them.

A sharp “ding” echoed down the hallway.

The doors to the elevator slid open with a quiet whoosh.

Stepping inside, Millie and Myron were soon joined by Barbara, who quickly pressed the button for the ground floor.

Meanwhile, Eugene rushed over and said urgently to Brandon, “Mr. Watson, we’ve just gotten an update. There’s more to the story about what happened on the hospital stairwell that day.”

Brandon looked distracted, his thoughts tangled, so Eugene explained further, “Vivian used your hand that day, and that’s how Miss Bennett ended up falling and losing her baby.”
