Chapter 907:
“Stop crying.” Millie’s heart raced with concern, immediately fearing that something had happened to Alexia or Giffard. Softly, she tried to calm her down. “Don’t panic. Just tell me what’s wrong. Take your time. I’m here for you.”
“It’s not about me, Millie. This is about you,” Alexia blurted out, her voice cracking with pain.
Despite her own shock, Millie was still more worried about Alexia, doing her best to comfort her friend.
Alexia’s next words hit hard. “That day on the hospital stairwell, Millie, it wasn’t an accident. Vivian was behind all of it.”
Tears streamed down Alexia’s face as she broke down. “This happened because of me. I was the one who provoked her and gave her the chance to hurt you. All I cared about was my own fight, never seeing that Vivian was using me to lure you to the stairs. She took advantage of that, and in the end… she pushed you.”
Alexia’s sobs traveled across the line, raw and piercing even from a distance.
Frozen in place, Millie struggled to process what she’d just heard. A cold sensation crept through her, leaving every part of her body numb. Without thinking, she pressed her free hand against her stomach.
The memories of that day had always haunted her, but she’d tried to keep them locked away. Now, realizing it had all been planned from the start, crushed any effort she’d made to forget.
It wasn’t chance that had brought tragedy into her life.
No twist of fate had caused that terrible moment.
She couldn’t shake the guilt. If only she’d been more alert, maybe she could’ve protected her child.
All she could see was her own mistake, her inability to see through the deception.

Meanwhile, Barbara had just finished her call with Charles and glanced over at Millie, worry etched on her face.
Myron’s phone wouldn’t stop buzzing; Brandon’s name kept flashing with each new call.
Hearing the truth from Alexia, Myron looked at Millie, his gaze filled with pain.
The only thing he wanted in that moment was to keep her from falling apart. “Millie?” Gently, he reached for her, hoping to steady her before she lost her balance completely.
Just as Myron reached for her, he felt a warm drop splash against his hand.
Myron paused, startled, and glanced up. Millie’s tears had begun to fall.
“Millie…” he whispered, his own voice trembling.
Emotion clogged Myron’s throat, and his eyes grew misty as he gently tried to brush away her tears, only to find more spilling over.
A deep sadness filled her gaze, and the tears kept flowing down her cheeks.
A sudden “ding” broke the silence.
The elevator glided to a stop at the ground floor.
Its doors slid open, revealing the bustling lobby beyond.
People hurried past, caught up in the routines of their day, completely unaware of the storm inside the elevator.
Everything outside seemed almost unreal compared to the heaviness Millie carried.
