Chapter 916:
“Doctor, please tell me about my husband’s current condition,” she pleaded, desperate urgency coating every syllable.
“His complete recovery remains entirely achievable, though the process will demand considerable patience and time,” the physician offered with gentle confidence.
“How much time until he regains complete health? Is he conscious at this moment?” She attempted to peer past the medical staff toward the room’s interior.
“He has just drifted back into peaceful slumber, though he should regain consciousness again within the next several days. Regarding his overall condition, we must conduct comprehensive evaluations then,” the doctor elaborated with professional thoroughness, then added with genuine optimism, “The fact that he has awakened represents an extraordinarily positive development.”
The woman acknowledged his words through tearful nods while maintaining her protective embrace around her child.
She returned to the familiar hospital room, where she gazed upon the figure resting peacefully on the medical bed, her smile radiant through tears of joy. Recalling the contact information the investigating officer had provided during their earlier encounter, she carefully dried her tears and retrieved her phone to compose a crucial message.
The message read, “My husband has just woken up.”
Not long after, the police called to inquire about the situation. Remembering the doctor’s words, the woman replied, “He only woke for a short while before falling back asleep. The doctor said he’ll wake again later, though.” The other party mumbled something and the woman replied, “Alright. I’ll call you when he wakes up.”
Time crept by.
Millie threw herself into work, determined to stay busy. Otherwise, she would spend every second asking whether Vivian had been found. Her focus was on taking over the Bennett family’s affairs. She spent the entire day in the office and running between meetings, following up on progress, pushing every step forward.

She met with the old Bennett Group team. Some were willing to follow her into the new company, others were not. Millie respected their decisions.
Myron had wanted to accompany her, but she asked him to go back to Elliott Group and keep things steady there. She told herself she could manage on her own. She believed she could do it. The world was vast, full of challenges waiting ahead. She would have to face them one by one.
Just as she was thinking this, her phone buzzed with the alert of a new post from Vivian. It read, “I’ve seen all the speculation online. Honestly, I envy Millie, and I resent her—but I never knew she was pregnant. What motive would I have to deliberately push her? Even if she fell down the stairs, she’d get injured but then be treated immediately because we were at the hospital. What would I ever gain from this? That was a simple accident, and people twist it into a crime. Where is everyone’s conscience?”
The post split the internet into two sides.
Vivian’s diehard fans and Johnny’s hired voices rushed to defend her. “It makes sense. The fight was sudden. How could Vivian have planned it? She didn’t even know Millie was pregnant!”
But those who had once believed Vivian and now felt betrayed ignored her words completely. The rest were curious onlookers, piling into the comments with wild speculation. Some even swarmed user 567’s page, begging for more. “Do you have more dirt? Spill it all!” But 567 remained silent. They didn’t post any new updates.
