Chapter 935:

Brandon stared at her, horrified. How could such twisted words come from her mouth? How could anyone think this way?

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Lynda stood frozen, staring at the portrait the sketch artist had just handed her. “It’s him…” she whispered.

Jon frowned. “Who is it?”

Lynda didn’t answer. Instead, she pulled out a set of photos and walked to his side. “I’m going to show you some photos, and I need you to tell me if you can recognize any of them.”

She held up the first one. “Is it this man?” she asked.

Jon studied the photo, then shook his head.

She tried again with a second picture. “How about him?” Jon squinted, then shook his head once more.

Her palms dampened with sweat. She pulled out another. “What about this one?”

The moment Jon saw it, he leapt to his feet. “That’s him! I’d know him anywhere!” His finger jabbed at the photo, his voice shaking. “It’s him, no doubt about it!”

Lynda slowly lowered her gaze to the photo, and the sophisticated man in a suit stared back at her. It was Macauley.

If Lynda was being completely honest, she had recognized Macauley from the sketch the moment she saw it. His distinctive features were unmistakable. But as a thorough investigator, she needed absolute confirmation before moving forward with any conclusions.

That was why she had deliberately selected three photographs of men who shared similar facial characteristics and presented them to Jon for identification. Even with the similar options to choose from, Jon had pointed directly to Macauley without a moment’s hesitation.

Lynda caught her colleague’s eye across the room. They both knew exactly what the other was thinking—this case had just taken a significant turn.

The two investigators stepped outside into the hallway for a private discussion. “What’s your assessment of this development?” her colleague asked, keeping his voice low.

Lynda considered her words carefully before responding. “Macauley used to work as the procurement manager for Watson Group. If Vivian was working with him, this probably wasn’t just a simple case of hiring some random thug off the street. These two likely had an established relationship that goes back much further than we initially thought.” She paused, gathering her thoughts before continuing with growing certainty. “In fact, it’s entirely possible that Vivian’s whole connection to the Watson Group was planned and deliberate from the very beginning.”

Her colleague looked puzzled. “What makes you think that?”

Rather than answering directly, Lynda pulled out her smartphone and located a specific video file. The footage came from the televised version of the first episode of the show “Heavenly Melody.” It captured Vivian’s commentary during Serena’s performance of “Yesterday.”

“In those days, Vivian Floral Design was nowhere near as successful as it is now and was just another florist hoping to get by. Then there was this chance, and I decided to compete for the Watson Group’s floral contracts.”

“I honestly didn’t think I stood a chance, but the contract ended up being split into several parts, and I managed to win a small section supplying flowers to the CEO’s office and the secretary’s department.”
