Chapter 956:
“Now I finally get it,” someone added. “No wonder she walked away from Brandon the way she did and never looked back.”
Elsewhere, Millie watched quietly as the maids finished tidying the room.
A sudden flurry of noise drifted up from the foyer.
Curious, Millie made her way downstairs and caught sight of the butler bowing deeply to a well-dressed woman.
Maggie approached her and offered an introduction. “That is Mrs. Helga Elliott—Mr. Elliott’s mother.”
Surprise flickered across Millie’s face.
She hurried down the last few steps, nerves and uncertainty twisting inside her. She and Myron should have made the visit to his mother together to show respect, but with everything in chaos, there had been no chance.
Anxious, she stopped in front of Helga, unsure of the right thing to say.
Helga’s smile was gentle as she reached for Millie’s hand, her touch reassuring and warm. “Just call me Helga,” she said softly. “I’ve been worried, so I decided to come see you for myself.”
Millie took a steadying breath before giving a polite nod. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Helga.”
Her gaze flickered to Helga, still unsure about the real reason for today’s visit. From the way Helga spoke earlier, Millie got the impression this meeting was arranged especially for her.
After a moment’s thought, Millie motioned for Helga to follow her into the living room. But Helga gently declined and asked, “Do you have a moment? Why don’t you come with me instead?”
No one else lingered in the foyer, just the two of them. As Millie hesitated, Helga’s reassuring smile appeared. “You have nothing to worry about. I honestly believe you and Myron make a great pair.”

Her words were meant to calm Millie and show her support. A faint blush colored Millie’s cheeks, caught off guard by the other woman’s kindness.
She managed a small smile and said, “We really should’ve visited you first.”
Helga just waved off her concern, grinning. “There’s been so much going on lately, so don’t worry about it. We’re practically family, after all. How about joining me for a little pampering? A spa treatment, perhaps? I know a wonderful spa nearby.”
The invitation caught Millie off guard. She hadn’t expected the conversation to turn to beauty treatments. Still, this wasn’t the first time Helga had suggested they spend time together outside the house. It struck Millie that, as the elder and a guest, Helga was the one making the effort to reach out.
Millie had already double-checked with Maggie and was certain about Helga’s identity. Feeling reassured, Millie nodded and said, “Of course. Let me just grab my purse.”
A warm smile spread across Helga’s face as she nodded back.
Heading upstairs, Millie quickly sent Myron a text that said, “Your mom’s here and wants to take me out for a spa day. When do you think you’ll be back?”
Myron responded immediately, “Relax. My mom genuinely likes you. I’ll be home as soon as I can.”
