Chapter 961:

While showing Millie various treatment options, Helga remarked casually, “I’ll be enjoying a relaxing spa day here with my future daughter-in-law, so I expect any irrelevant people to leave now.”

“You!” The woman in the bathrobe was absolutely furious at this public declaration. “Helga, I was trying to help you and look out for your family’s best interests, and this is how you repay my concern?”

“Help me?” Helga let out a cold, humorless laugh. “You might seem caring on the surface, but I heard every single thing you just said. You simply want to play matchmaker, Adah. Let me make this perfectly clear—my son already has a girlfriend, and I couldn’t be happier about it.”

Adah Willis became even more enraged by this public rejection. Realizing she couldn’t win a verbal battle against Helga’s sharp tongue, she decided to redirect her anger toward what she saw as an easier target. “Millie, if you have any sense at all, you’ll leave this room right now!” she snapped.

Millie looked confused by the sudden attack. Should she actually leave to avoid making the situation worse? After a moment of consideration, Millie shook her head calmly. “Why should I? I’ve already made arrangements with Mrs. Elliott to receive a beauty treatment here today,” she said with quiet dignity, refusing to be intimidated.

Helga was clearly impressed with how Millie had handled herself. She showed exactly the right balance: confident and dignified without being aggressive, and certainly not allowing herself to be walked over.

“You have no business being in a place like this, do you understand?” Adah screamed, her face flushed with rage. “I’ve never encountered such a shameless woman in my life! First, you shamelessly threw yourself at Brandon, and now you’ve set your sights on Myron. With your pathetic background, I suppose that’s the only way you know how to survive!”

Helga felt her temper reaching the breaking point, ready to unleash her fury on this woman who dared to attack Millie so viciously.

Millie’s expression grew slightly more serious, and before Helga could jump to her defense, she stepped forward and spoke with calm authority.

“Ma’am,” Millie said in a steady voice, “five minutes ago, we were complete strangers. I honestly have no idea where this hostility is coming from. My relationship with Brandon was completely legitimate; we had a proper marriage and a proper separation. My relationship with Myron began only after Brandon and I had completely ended things. I have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of regarding either relationship. As for your comment on my family background…”

Millie’s expression shifted into a subtle smile as she lifted her gaze to lock eyes with Adah. She remained silent for a moment, simply studying the other woman’s face. Her dark eyes showed no trace of fear or uncertainty. Yet somehow, that calm, steady stare was more unnerving than any angry outburst could have been. Adah found herself momentarily thrown off balance by this unexpected composure.

Finally, Millie’s smile became slightly more pronounced as she spoke in a soft but crystal-clear voice. “While it’s true that the Bennett family has experienced financial difficulties and might now be considered of modest means, I firmly believe that a person’s worth isn’t determined by their wealth or social position. I live my life with honor and refuse to tolerate your false accusations. Also, I expect you to offer me an apology.”

Millie’s tone remained conversational and pleasant throughout, as if she were simply having a normal discussion about the weather. However, her message was absolutely unmistakable.
