Chapter 996:
She shifted her gaze to the crowd and added, “And second, this is what I want to tell everyone today.”
Her smile was steady, her voice full of quiet strength.
“In the days to come, I will prove myself. My opening words weren’t just empty talk. Words can be dismissed, but real results cannot. Give me time, and I will show you all that Millie Bennett will revive the Bennett family!”
The spotlight caught her face, calm and determined. There was no fear in her voice, no hint of hesitation.
At that moment, she was the center of the room.
Her confidence sparked something in the audience. A wave of applause rose and rolled through the hall.
The bold man’s face darkened.
“But you’re just clinging to Myron…” he muttered.
Myron calmly took the microphone.
Smiling at the man, he said, “My friend, you seem to think I’m a fool. That anyone can toy with me like a puppet?” The crowd burst into laughter.
Myron’s quick wit earned another round of applause.
The man tried to speak, but Myron cut in. “You said Millie is clinging to me? Sorry, you’ve got it backward. I’m the one clinging to her.” He laughed lightly. “Everyone in Crobert remembers the gossip about me chasing Millie, right? Well, let me set the record straight.”
He nodded seriously. “It’s true. I pursued Millie with all my heart and I swore I wouldn’t rest until she was mine.” The man stood speechless.
Myron looked at the crowd. “I love Millie. Our decision to marry was made carefully by the two of us. Please don’t question who is good enough for whom. If anything, I might be the one not good enough.”

That remark from Myron finally settled the dispute.
The hall immediately filled with murmurs.
“There are three ways to see this,” someone said. “First, Myron clearly sees value in Millie — she stands on her own merit. Second, maybe he’s simply fallen for her, which also speaks to her charisma. And third, it could be both — Millie is capable, and Myron loves her.”
Heads around the room bobbed in agreement.
The voice continued, “Whatever the reason, their bond is official.”
It was true — their marriage was their own choice.
Still, not everyone was pleased. Many whispered that Millie, a divorced woman, wasn’t worthy of Myron. But Myron had spoken, and since this was Millie’s company’s grand opening, no one dared object aloud.
The earlier troublemaker had already slipped away in the noise.
Millie stayed calm, lifted the microphone, and spoke again.
“This is what I wanted to share today. Restoring the Bennett family isn’t just empty talk. I hope you’ll keep supporting us!”
The audience broke into applause.
“Now, let’s continue the banquet.” Millie smiled as the lights brightened once more.
