Zachary gently kissed Serenity on the cheek and said, “Honey, don’t worry. Your husband will always love you. I’m tired from taking care of Sonny for half the day. Let’s rest for a bit.” Given that Zachary had a busy afternoon ahead, Serenity joined him for a lunch break.
Just half an hour after she fell asleep, Zachary got up to work. With his beloved wife nearby, he felt cheerful and focused on his tasks. In contrast to the tranquil atmosphere of the president’s office, Callum was entertaining Kevin in the vice president’s office. After accompanying their older brother for some socializing, Kevin had returned to the company headquarters. He claimed it had been too long since he made his presence known at the headquarters; if he didn’t stir things up, no one would remember him as the third young master of the York family.
“Kevin, you’ve been sitting here for an hour. What’s on your mind? Just say it—there’s nothing we can’t discuss as brothers,” Callum said, glancing at the clock before sitting down across from Kevin. They chatted for an hour.
Recently, Callum had called Spring Blossoms to order a bouquet and requested Camryn to deliver it personally. He informed the clerk that he had no appetite at lunch and couldn’t eat, but he was hungry now. He trusted that the clerk would relay his words to Camryn.
He waited for Camryn to bring him both flowers and some food. Camryn clearly cared about him; Serenity had told him that after he went to Annenburg, Camryn asked about his whereabouts and expressed how much she missed him, indicating her feelings for him. However, whenever Callum returned to find Camryn, she seemed either too busy to see him or indifferent when she did.
Stubborn girl! Sometimes, Callum…
Kevin longed to hold Camryn in his arms and reprimand her sharp tongue. He remained in his office for an hour, as Callum worried that Kevin might become too distracted.
Kevin said, “It’s nothing serious, but I haven’t spoken with Brother Zachary in a while. I’d like to catch up with him this afternoon and have dinner together later. How about we return to the villa afterward?”
Callum chuckled, “Do you really want to go back? Are you worried that Grandma will start pushing you?”
Kevin replied, “Grandma has set goals for me; why would she pressure me? Right now, she’s focused on the other half of Brother Five.”
While Grandma had set a goal for her fourth grandson, he had always been quiet and reserved, even more so than his elder brother before he got married. Since he rarely spoke, they had no idea which woman Grandma was interested in, but judging by the fourth grandson’s demeanor, there were no signs of any unusual behavior.
Kevin felt a strong curiosity about what Grandma’s plans were for the fourth grandson. He had shared meals and drinks with him a few times, but had never managed to get a word out of him.
Despite Kevin being quite articulate, he found it incredibly difficult to get the fourth brother to talk. That guy was likely the most reserved and enigmatic of the nine siblings.
Callum remarked, “You know that Grandma set you a goal. It’s been six months, and you haven’t made any progress. You should take a page from my book and act quickly. Even if you do make a move, you might not win her over.”
Kevin responded, “Brother, if you hadn’t fallen for Ms. Newman, I would have gladly switched places with you. Even though Ms. Newman’s eyesight isn’t fully restored, it’s clear to anyone that she’s a woman. But who would dare to say that Hayden is—”
“Woman? If my grandma hadn’t encouraged me to pursue her, I wouldn’t even know she was a woman. She’s more masculine than I am. Being with her makes me feel like I’m gay.”
Before grandma showed him the photo, Kevin and Hayden had no connection, so he had no reason to investigate her and didn’t realize she was actually a woman.
Like everyone else, he assumed that Hayden was the young master of the Queen family and the heir to Queen Enterprises, never considering that Hayden was female.
In Annenburg, Hayden stood apart from Miss Stoll. Casey Stoll often sported short hair and wore unisex clothing. Although Casey had never claimed to be a man, it was easy for people to make that assumption.
Everyone was also aware that the Stoll family had only two daughters and no sons.
Kevin boldly suggested that Hayden’s parents viewed her as a true man.
Callum erupted in laughter.
With a smile, Callum remarked, “Kevin, don’t you find it satisfying to gradually expose Hayden as a woman? When the truth comes out, the entire Jensburg will be in shock.”
