Following the excitement among family members, Grandma May’s third daughter-in-law, Mrs. Madisyn York, suddenly expressed her affection for her eldest son, Kevin.
Madisyn asked Kevin, “Where do you and my future daughter-in-law stand? When will you bring Ms. Queen back for dinner?”
In response, Kevin quickly ran away.
Frustrated by her son’s silence, Madisyn turned to her husband, Bowen York, and said, “Look at your son! His grandma gave him and Callum two photos at the same time. Callum is bringing Camryn over for dinner tonight, but your son hasn’t brought my future daughter-in-law home. I still don’t know when I will have a daughter-in-law.”
Bowen replied, “In situations like this, we shouldn’t rush. Your son isn’t ready to act yet. What’s the point of us hurrying? We can’t chase after him in Jensburg, trying to help him win over his future wife.”
Madisyn countered, “Why aren’t you worried? Callum will soon be a father and is settling down. Our son is about the same age as Callum; do you really think he’s still too young? If he were the youngest child, I wouldn’t worry at all.”
“A remarkable woman like Ms. Queen is in high demand. If your son doesn’t take action soon, he might regret it later.” After a pause, Bowen added, “I believe that the wealthy women in Jensburg who admire Ms. Queen are all women themselves, and none would ever marry her. So, you don’t need to worry about a man stealing your son’s future wife.”
Hayden had always disguised herself as a man, and to the people of Jensburg, she was regarded as the young master of the Queen family. Despite her beauty, she was seen as the most handsome man among the young talents in Jensburg.
However, those young talents only envied Hayden’s exceptional beauty; none would ever fall in love with her.
Hayden’s admirers were left envious after seeing him. How could they not be? Madisyn struggled to process her husband’s words. Eventually, she replied, “Even if Hayden, who is to be Kevin’s future wife, is not taken away, he cannot simply stand by and do nothing. Luckily, when he returns for dinner, you can ask him why he has stopped paying attention to his grandmother.”
Initially, Madisyn was not concerned about her son’s marriage because she had her mother-in-law. As long as the mother-in-law was alive, there would be a protective presence over their Wildridge Manor, shielding them from hardship, allowing her to not worry about them.
Grateful to her mother-in-law like an old urchin, Madisyn was nonetheless devoted to the well-being of her children and grandchildren.
Bowen said, “I’ll ask him when he gets back. I’m not in a hurry if you don’t tell me first. Once you do, I’ll be eager to know. My son is a few months younger than Callum, who might marry by the year’s end. But Hayden’s identity hasn’t been revealed yet.”
“Stop talking! He has been stuck in a hotel all day and hasn’t gone to Jensburg. How can he possibly expose Hayden’s identity?”
Madisyn replied, “He did nothing because he thought Hayden would come knocking on the door and announce, ‘Kevin, I am a woman, come marry me!’ Is he dreaming? Kevin must be dealing with something he doesn’t want us to know. Don’t let him leave tonight; I won’t ask why.”
The younger generation did not enjoy living in Wildridge Manor. One reason was that with all the elders present, if they made a mistake, the three divisions would easily interrogate them. The other reason was that Wildridge Manor was far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life, making it naturally distant from the excitement.
In the city center, the younger generation needed to commute for work. Living in the villa would require a significant amount of time for back-and-forth travel. Even though Kevin wished to sleep in, he found it impossible. Summers were tough, and during winter, who wouldn’t want to stay in a warm bed for a bit longer when the weather was cold? As a result, many young professionals opted to buy homes in the urban area for the convenience of commuting to and from work. “Tell Mom that our fighting power can’t match hers alone,” Bowen thought. His first instinct was to enlist his mother to take on the role of the couple’s vanguard.
