Hayden paused, turned her head to look at the handsome face nearby, and met his smiling eyes. For a moment, she wondered if Kevin suspected that she had originally worn red makeup.

However, upon reflection, that seemed unlikely.

No one in Jensburg was aware that she was a woman. She had disguised herself as a man for over 20 years and was quite skilled at it. No one could uncover her true identity unless she revealed herself in a more intimate manner.

Although Kevin had visited Jensburg several times and interacted with Hayden on multiple occasions, their interactions had been brief, making it improbable for him to know her true identity.

Hayden asked, “Mr. York, are you interested in men? If you were to bring a man home, would your family accept it?”

Despite Kevin’s closeness, Hayden remained calm and composed.

Inwardly, Kevin admired her focus; she truly lived up to her reputation as the young owner of Queen Enterprise.

He replied, “I’m not interested in men. If I were to bring a man home, my family might not accept it right away, but eventually, they would come around. They always say that as long as we juniors are happy, that’s what matters.”

Hayden smiled. “Your parents are quite open-minded.”

Continuing to walk, she added, “I’m not interested in homosexuality either.”

She specifically stated her lack of interest in homosexuality, not that she was uninterested in men.

Kevin responded, “The elders of my York family are known for their open-mindedness, Mr. Queen. So, it’s settled—we can help each other find our matches.”

Hayden was taken aback.

Kevin was serious about this.

She smiled but chose not to pursue the topic further. It was unlikely for Kevin to remain in Jensburg indefinitely. If he brought up the idea of matchmaking, she could easily find an excuse to decline.

After Hayden…

As Kevin wandered around the yard with me, a maid approached to announce that dinner was ready. We both returned to the house together. Mrs. Queen observed the two of us entering side by side, noting that her daughter matched Kevin in height and presence.

Kevin struggled to find the right words for her daughter; his face beamed with smiles, yet she remained serious and unresponsive. Mrs. Queen sighed internally, wondering how her wonderful daughter had ended up this way. Her daughter lacked conversational skills, even though Mrs. Queen herself often engaged in lengthy chats with her.

If her daughter were more like her, she would need to find a man who could hold a conversation. Otherwise, they would spend their days in silence, likely disapproved of at home for their lack of communication. This train of thought led Mrs. Queen to suddenly see Kevin as a fitting candidate for her son-in-law.

Kevin was the third young master of the York family, managing their catering business with impressive skill. He was nearly the same age as Hayden, making him an ideal match if he possessed good conversational abilities. Such thoughts made Mrs. Queen even more fond of Kevin.

Throughout dinner, Mrs. Queen frequently encouraged Kevin to help himself to more food, and at times, she served him directly. Donald occasionally assisted Kevin by passing him vegetables, while they all enjoyed their meal, sharing stories and laughter.

Hayden ate quietly, observing how warmly her parents treated Kevin. It felt as if he were their chosen son, born to them. While she accepted their kindness toward him, as the meal progressed and after a few glasses of wine, Hayden sensed that her parents regarded Kevin as if he were a godson. At one point, her father even draped his arm around Kevin’s shoulders and affectionately called him…

“Hey, brother.”

Donald: “Come on, buddy, let’s grab another drink.”
