Donald was intoxicated, while Kevin, a good drinker, was enjoying himself.
Mrs. Queen reprimanded her husband, “Kevin is a generation younger than you; he could even be our son. You still refer to Kevin as your younger brother, which is incorrect and muddles the generational lines.”
Kevin initially thought it didn’t matter. However, considering that Grandma May wanted him to marry Hayden, addressing his future father-in-law as “brother” would complicate the family dynamics.
He smiled and chose to remain silent, allowing Mrs. Queen to continue scolding her husband.
Donald chuckled, saying, “Kevin and I really didn’t meet each other too late. Kevin, I consider you a friend. We’re friends who disregard age. Whenever we have the chance, we should eat and drink together.”
Kevin replied, “Sure! As long as Uncle Queen invites me, I’ll drop everything to come over and drink.”
Hayden couldn’t help but smirk.
“Dad, Mr. York is very busy with work, unlike you, who is now just a shopkeeper,” Hayden remarked to her father.
On the surface, Queen Enterprise was still under her father’s management. In reality, he had long been a hands-off owner, with Hayden handling everything at the company.
Donald responded, “Your dad can afford to be a hands-off shopkeeper because you are such an exceptional daughter.”
He praised Hayden to Kevin, “Kevin, my ability to retire at a young age without worry is thanks to Hayden’s talents. Queen Enterprise continues to thrive because of her skills; my daughter is worth ten sons.”
“Hayden and Hugh are twins, and while Hugh may be a bit less stable, Hayden alone is worth five sons.”
The best thing that ever happened to Donald was having twins with his wife. Both children were remarkable; although Hugh, his son, was less stable than Hayden, he still brought joy to their lives.
