Josh: “Zachary, you are quite vocal about Grandma’s virtues. You should have anticipated this long ago. Be thankful that Grandma didn’t kidnap your wife when you first got married; otherwise, you’d be feeling even more uneasy.”

It’s tough to be apart for a while.

Zachary: “…I’m not happy either. I’m used to waking up next to my wife, and when I return home at night, she’s there waiting for me. As long as she’s at home, I can’t wait to get back. She has been waiting for a long time.

Now she’s gone out to play, and she’s decided not to let me follow her. She even replaced her mobile phone with a new one, which I’m not accustomed to. Josh, come out for a drink or two; I’ll treat you.”

He made no effort to find out where Grandma had gone.

Since Grandma took Serenity out, she hadn’t informed him of their destination unless Serenity reached out to him.

Zachary couldn’t comprehend why he had offended Grandma, who seemed intent on punishing him like this.

“What time is it? This isn’t an appropriate time to drink. I want to be with my wife; she’s pregnant, so I don’t smoke or drink anymore,” Josh declined Zachary’s invitation immediately.

Zachary: “…I don’t have nearly enough friends, and I value friendship highly.”

“Friends don’t spend their entire lives with me, but my wife will. I prioritize my wife, of course. It’s late, so I won’t continue this discussion. I’m going to be with my wife instead. Good night.”

Josh smiled and said good night; Jasmine always sensed a hint of schadenfreude in her husband’s words.

After Josh ended the call, Jasmine asked him, “Did Grandma May and Serenity go on a long trip without Zachary knowing? Did he complain to you about Grandma abducting Serenity?”

Josh smiled and

He remarked, “That’s correct; he doesn’t know how he upset Grandma, which led to her punishing him. If Grandma May has issues with other people, it’s best not to offend them. My patriarch treats Grandma May with the utmost respect.”

“It’s been a while since Grandma May has been in a good mood. Didn’t she mention that she’s busy selecting grandsons for her other grandchildren? Logically, Zachary shouldn’t have upset her, especially since she loves him the most,” he continued.

After thinking for a moment, Josh speculated, “Maybe Zachary is being too domineering. Grandma May might be punishing him to let him experience real neglect, so he stops complaining about Serenity ignoring him and frequently going to Serenity’s sister with his grievances.”

Jasmine smiled and added, “Exactly. Serenity said she’s never met a man who complains to his family as much as he does. Whenever Serenity teases him, he runs to Sister Liberty to vent. Serenity mentioned there’s been a conflict between them, and she considered confiscating his phone and sitting by the door to prevent him from leaving to complain to his mother.”

Josh laughed until his stomach hurt.

After catching his breath, he defended his friend, saying, “Don’t blame Zachary; Grandma May taught him everything except how to love someone. It’s natural to have some shortcomings when trying to love someone. He just loves Serenity a little too much.”

“He’s used to being domineering and being the center of attention, which translates into love. He expects the woman he loves to be wholly devoted to him. If he turns around and doesn’t see her, he will search for others and only complain if she overlooks him.”
