Camryn withdrew her hand from her mouth, stood up as if nothing had happened, and hadn’t yet walked around the cash register when her assistant entered.
Callum walked away dejectedly and continued to water the flowers.
The assistant handed the money she had received to Camryn and turned to glance at Callum as he passed by. After Callum stepped outside to water the flowers, she whispered, “Boss, did I make a mistake?”
Camryn accepted the money from the assistant, counted the bills to ensure everything was correct, and replied to the assistant’s question, “No, you’re fine. You didn’t make any mistakes.”
The assistant sighed in relief and said, “That’s good. I thought I messed up. Just now, when I walked past Second Young Master York, he gave me a double stare.”
Relieved that she hadn’t erred, the assistant felt at ease.
Camryn internally complained about her fiancé but maintained a cheerful demeanor. With a warm smile, she responded, “You might be imagining things. Why would Callum stare at you? When he isn’t smiling, he just looks serious, which might make it seem like he’s staring.”
To her, Callum was gentle, but in front of others, she would say he wore a different expression.
It’s just that she hadn’t seen Callum in that context and didn’t even know how he appeared to others.
The assistant replied, “Maybe I misunderstood. Boss, you’re right. Second Young Master York is gentle with you, but he appears very serious to others. He looks cold and hard to approach.”
As the assistant spoke, she kept her voice low, worried about Callum overhearing.
He chose to ignore it, allowing the assistant to make remarks about him, which could also indicate that he held a special place in Camryn’s heart. He tended to have a good temperament around those he was familiar with. Camryn smiled and said, “He can’t be considered gentle with me; more often, he’s like… a rascal.” Callum responded with silence. If he weren’t a rascal, could he rely on her to get engaged? He was uncertain how long she would continue to avoid him. Grandma had advised him, “When you’re pursuing your wife, you shouldn’t worry about shame. After winning her over, you can still be shameless in front of her.” His aloof older brother had broken countless conventions for his sister-in-law, never caring how many times he embarrassed himself.
“There’s no order at the moment. Take a look around the store. I’m stepping out for a bit; I have something to do,” Camryn told the assistant. The assistant smiled and replied, “Boss, just go ahead and handle your business. I’ll keep an eye on the store, and Abby will be back soon.” Abby was another one of Camryn’s assistants. Feeling reassured, Camryn stepped outside and called to Callum, who was watering the potted flowers in front of the store, “Callum, please accompany me to the Wiltspoon Hotel; I need to talk to Trenton.”
Trenton was leaving Wiltspoon to attend college in a country he had never visited before and would not be home as frequently as he had during high school. Camryn hoped to have a conversation with her younger brother before he left for college. “Okay,” Callum replied immediately. He returned the flower pot to its original spot, went into the store to grab a white cane for her, assisted her into the luxury vehicle he had parked outside, and thoughtfully helped her fasten her seatbelt just before getting into the car himself.
Soon, Callum’s luxury car departed from Spring Blossoms.
After their departure, two individuals with binoculars watched the spring blossoms from the rooftop of a building across the street. As Callum drove Camryn away, the two individuals continued to track Callum’s car with their eyes.
