Callum gently led her away, saying as they walked, “Trenton still cares about you. He’s young and naive, so try not to argue with him too much. It’s not true that you’re not angry or sad.”
Camryn replied softly, “In that family, the person I care about the most is Trenton. Although I may appear to have a bad attitude towards him, almost as if I hate him, deep down I really like this brother. He is different from the others; he genuinely cares for me as a big sister. Since he became more aware, he has always protected me and helped me. Whenever my mother beats or scolds me, he rushes in to stop her.”
“Mom thought he protected me because I coaxed him, so she eventually forbade me from seeing him and took various measures to keep us apart. However, living in the same room, Trenton consistently stood up for me, defending me in front of his father.”
“His father would say a few insincere words to my mother to encourage her to treat me better. When Trenton went to school, Carrie grew jealous of how he treated me like an adult. She insisted that my mother send Trenton to boarding school under the pretense of fostering his independence.”
“In truth, they didn’t want Trenton and me to have a sibling bond, so he was taken from me at a young age. I was sent to boarding school and could only return home once a week. When he visited, they pretended to be kind to me.”
“As soon as Trenton returned to school, I became invisible at home again and was often called by Carrie, who bullied me. My attempts to fight back frequently resulted in my mother punishing me. That family left me with shadows and darkness, but Trenton was my light.”
After Camryn paused for a moment, she continued, “My two…
My elder aunts have been friends with my dad since their youth, despite the significant age gap that exists between them. They do not enjoy spending time with him, and I suspect that my grandparents favor my dad, which makes them envious.
As I prepared to take over Newman’s company, I also planned to remove the Chandler and Joyner families, who relied on Newman’s support. Do they truly think I am unaware of how much they have exploited the situation? I decided to cut them off from Newman’s for the benefit of my aunt and nephew, and I refrained from pursuing legal action against them.
Now, they are trying to create conflict between me and Trenton, which is incredibly frustrating. Callum, you don’t need to be lenient with them.” While Camryn felt hurt by her younger brother’s actions, she also harbored resentment towards her two eldest aunts.
Initially, she believed their disputes were simply a matter of aunt and nephew. No matter how harshly they scolded her, she ignored them, knowing that as long as she was around, her cousins would not return to the Newman family.
Though the Chandler and Joyner families’ Wiltspoon businesses were not particularly large, they were reasonably successful and operated in industries similar to Newman Enterprise. In the past, they had a strong partnership with Newman’s, but Camryn has since severed those ties, resulting in greater losses for them while minimizing the impact on Newman’s.
Moreover, Camryn chose not to retaliate against them. However, Callum, eager to protect his wife, took matters into his own hands by secretly creating obstacles for both families, causing them hardships in their business endeavors.
Camryn was aware that she did not intervene on behalf of the two families but had left them some financial support to ensure their survival. Now, she has no intention of showing them any mercy.
The Newman family is currently left with only an empty shell of a company.
Wiltspoon, otherwise she would have been able to disrupt the capital chain of Chandler and Joyner’s businesses, and if they couldn’t generate enough revenue, they would inevitably face bankruptcy.
“Okay,” Callum replied calmly. “Since they enjoy playing games, we’ll engage with them gradually, allowing them to sink into despair bit by bit until they lose everything.”
After a moment of silence, Camryn said, “What saddens me the most is that Trenton believed what they said.”
