“Auntie.” Sonny felt as though Titus had taken his aunt away from him. Overcome with jealousy, he snuck into his aunt’s embrace.
Serenity smiled and hugged her nephew before releasing the two little ones. She then took one by the hand and said, “We’ve been playing outside for a long time. Let’s head back to the house.”
The couple had two children, creating a family of four.
Once back in the main house, Serenity informed Jane that Titus had fallen.
Jane quickly pulled her adopted son closer. Although she wanted to examine him publicly, she hesitated. Instead of lifting up Titus’s shirt, she gently placed her hands on his shoulders and asked with concern, “Does it hurt?”
“It hurts, but after Aunt Seren hugged me, it didn’t hurt anymore,” Titus replied. After a moment of thought, he added, “Mama, Aunt Seren smells just like you. I really like her.”
Jane smiled, “You two seem to have taken a liking to each other.”
In reality, Titus would have liked Jane a lot if she genuinely cared for him. Even at his young age, he could tell who was sincere with him, though he chose not to voice this.
The master had once said that some things are best kept in the heart and don’t need to be spoken aloud.
A bit embarrassed by his mother’s laughter, Titus still mustered the courage to wrap his arms around Jane’s neck and sweetly declared, “Mama, you’re still my favorite.”
Before Jane could respond, Titus immediately jumped out of her arms upon hearing the maid respectfully call for young master Johnson.
Titus grabbed Sonny’s hand and said, “Sonny, let’s go see our younger siblings.”
Ben disliked seeing Titus act like a baby in Jane’s arms.
Titus was somewhat intimidated by Ben.
He was actually quite kind to Titus, but Titus always maintained a serious expression around him, which made him feel as though he had made a significant mistake. Titus took Sonny and rushed to the crib, where he saw Enzo and Avah. The two infants were sound asleep. At just two months old, their lives revolved around eating and sleeping. Old Mrs. York was also present, and she had a particular fondness for Avah. If the Johnson family hadn’t had only one granddaughter, Old Mrs. York would have wanted to borrow her granddaughter for a while to raise. Ben stepped out to run some errands, and upon his return, he learned that Zachary and his wife had visited, along with the elderly lady from the York family. As he entered the room, he noticed a lively crowd, and his gaze immediately fell on his beloved wife, bringing a small smile to his face. “Grandma May,” Ben greeted the elderly lady first. Grandma May reluctantly shifted her focus from Avah, looked at Ben with affection, and nodded with a smile.
