After a while, Josh remarked, “I really want to go to Jensburg to eat melons.”
Zachary responded, “You can also eat melons in Wiltspoon right now. Kevin sent flowers to Mr. Queen just an hour ago. You’ve already had hot melons, so do you really need to go to Jensburg?”
Josh smiled and replied, “While I can eat hot melons in Wiltspoon, it’s still much warmer to enjoy melons in Jensburg.”
“I’ll be off work in 20 minutes,” Zachary suddenly said.
Josh added, “I’m going to have dinner with my wife after work. By the way, there are some really hot melons that I must bring home for her. Melons are her favorite fruit. Zachary, I don’t mind if you laugh at me; I often wonder if Jasmine married me just for the melons.”
Zachary commented, “You are quite self-aware.”
Josh responded, “That’s not the case. Jasmine must love me for being an excellent person, treating her well, and sharing similar interests. We fell in love genuinely, not just for the melons or companionship. Of course, having a companion and enjoying melons is fantastic too. I even requested to leave work 20 minutes early because I want to get home to eat with my wife. The roads can get congested, so I’d rather eat once I arrive.” He then stood up to leave.
Zachary called out, “You come in late and leave early every day. Where has that dedicated Josh gone?”
“York Corporation is your family’s business, not the Buchams’,” Josh replied, unfazed by his friend’s comments about his hours.
As Josh reached the office door, he paused, turned to Zachary, and said, “You’re so dedicated now because your wife isn’t home. If she were, you’d be racing out faster than I am.”
Zachary chuckled and replied, “Get out of here.”
“Come on, having a wife is great! It’s as if some people don’t even…”
“a wife,” Josh said as he walked away proudly.
When Josh returned home, his wife had prepared steaming dinners for him. But what awaited Zachary upon his return?
Only Serenity’s pets were there to greet him.
Zachary had never liked pets. He had always been critical of Serenity’s animals and her choice to raise pigs; however, he only voiced his complaints behind her back, never directly to her face.
Meanwhile, in Jensburg,
Hayden had lunch around noon.
When her secretary knocked on the door and entered to remind her, she raised her left hand, glanced at her watch, and replied in a deep voice, “I see.” The secretary hesitated, unsure of how to continue.
Noticing the secretary’s hesitation, Hayden finally looked up and asked quietly, “What else is there?”
The secretary responded, “Mr. Queen, Mr. York…”
Hayden inquired, “What about him? Has he left?”
The secretary replied, “Mr. York hasn’t left.”
“Is he waiting at the company gate?” Hayden asked.
What exactly was Kevin trying to accomplish? Would he really linger there until she accepted his flowers?
The secretary nodded, saying, “I received an internal call from the security department. Not only is Mr. York still here, but he has also sent a large number of flowers. He arranged them at the entrance to spell out: Hayden, I want to pursue you!”
Hayden nearly crushed the pen in her hand.
Kevin was truly making a scene!
The topics he generated were already sensational enough. Now, a bouquet of flowers had turned her into the center of attention at the company.
She had thought that distancing herself would resolve the issue, but she never anticipated he would create such a spectacle at the company’s entrance, spelling words with flowers!
Hayden said, “Inform everyone in the…”
“The security department is requested to assist me in cleaning up those flowers!”
