Julian set down his water glass, informed Mrs. Stone that he wanted to leave, and rose to his feet. As he walked past Remy, he gave him a friendly pat on the shoulder. Remy immediately turned to Mrs. Stone and said, “Auntie, I’ll take Mr. Bucham out.” He was eager to learn what Mr. Bucham planned to do. Mrs. Stone didn’t respond verbally but nodded in agreement.
Remy handed the suitcase to Elisa, turned around, and followed Mr. Bucham out of the house. Once outside, he asked Julian, “Mr. Bucham, I know you don’t really intend to pursue Elisa. Can you explain your reasons?”
Julian paused, looked at him, and smiled. “I can’t tell you just yet, but Mr. Johnson, if you don’t put in the effort to win Elisa’s heart soon, someone else might come along and take her away. If you can get engaged to her, don’t worry; everything will be fine.”
Remy replied with a wry smile, “Do you think I don’t want to? Mrs. Stone is very stubborn and always disapproves of me and Elisa. We are both working hard at this, and no matter what happens, I will never give up on her. Mr. Bucham, regardless of your reasons for this situation, you’ve added a lot of pressure on me.”
Why was it so difficult to win a wife? He wished he could smoothly bring Elisa home as his own. He couldn’t help but envy Josh, who had an easy relationship with Jasmine. There were no obstacles; both sets of parents recognized their feelings for each other and supported them.
Julian chuckled and patted Remy on the shoulder once more. “Since you’re feeling pressured, make sure to cherish Elisa from now on. If you don’t, someone might steal your love at any moment. I know there’s no better man than you in this world.”
Remy nodded, “I have always cherished Elisa.” He remained alert, aware of the competition. Recently, Audrey had been pairing Elisa with Andrew, prompting a sense of urgency in him.
Fortunately, Andrew did not cooperate with Audrey and made it clear to her that he did not like Elisa.
Since Elisa had previously liked Zachary, and Andrew was Zachary’s cousin, he found it odd to be with her. He stated that he would never be with Elisa. During this time, Audrey did not pressure Andrew to interfere with Remy’s affection for her.
Perhaps Audrey realized that Andrew was genuinely not useful to her, so she decided to give up on her own.
Julian smiled and said, “Come on! I have things to do, so I’m leaving now. If you can keep today’s events a secret, make sure you hide it from me too. Don’t let my father find out, or he’ll come to propose marriage at an outrageous price. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Mr. Johnson, you should rush to get engaged to Ms. Stone. Once your relationship is established, you can relax.”
After finishing his statement, Julian quickly made his exit.
Remy worried that Julian’s father would discover his interest in Elisa and would rush to the Stone family to propose marriage, which would create significant trouble.
He kept this matter to himself and did not dare to involve his own people.
With his own contacts, he feared that they would betray him as soon as he turned his back.
He was asking Andrew for help to keep his plans under wraps for the day.
The Reading family maintained a low profile, and he and Andrew rarely interacted. Andrew’s assistance would not attract unnecessary attention.
