“It’s not enough; it’s simply not good enough, and I can’t make Auntie trust you. I will continue to work hard,” she said.

As they got into the car, Remy asked, “Where do you want to go for dinner?”

Elisa replied, “Wherever you want to go. I’ll eat there.”

Remy smiled; she had complete trust in him.

He started the engine and began to drive.

Elisa added, “After dinner, please take me to Wiltspoon Middle School. Both Ms. Serenity’s and Ms. Jasmine’s bookstores recently opened. Jasmine is bored at home, and the vegetable market is too far from the city. Mr. Josh won’t let her go to the market, so she opened the bookstore early.”

Jasmine, the treasured member of the Bucham family, had to open the bookstore to pass the time, even if there were no customers, and she visited other stores daily to chat.

Remy responded, “Okay.”

“Mr. Josh and Mr. Julian are cousins and have a good relationship. Perhaps Mr. Josh knows why Mr. Julian has acted this way. If Mr. Julian knows, then Ms. Jasmine will likely know too,” Elisa explained.

Elisa felt uneasy not understanding Julian’s intentions.

“Josh might not be aware of this,” Remy said as he drove. “Mr. Julian may not have informed Mr. Josh, so rather than asking Ms. Jasmine directly, it’s better to inquire subtly. We should be alert for any recent developments from Mr. Julian.”

Elisa pondered for a moment and then remarked, “I wonder who asked Mr. Julian to come here to help.”

After a brief reflection, Remy stated, “It seems Andrew hasn’t been around for a while.”

“Andrew can’t invite Mr. Julian, and even Mr. Zack isn’t capable of that. How could Andrew compare to Zachary?” Elisa quickly dismissed Remy’s implication.

Andrew kept a low profile in Wiltspoon, and as a result, many people were unfamiliar with him. Despite being the young master of the Reading family and Zachary’s cousin, he lacked the influence needed to persuade Julian to intervene in her relationship with Remy.

“That’s true,” Remy replied with a smile. “It doesn’t matter, Elisa, as long as we stay resolute and aren’t easily deceived. I’m not concerned about Mr. Julian; my worry lies with Patriarch Bucham. If he genuinely came to propose marriage and viewed you as his daughter-in-law, there would be no way to wash away that situation, even if I jumped into the Yellow River.”

Patriarch Bucham became increasingly desperate after discovering his son’s struggles with apathy. In his quest to cure his son’s condition and help him become a real man, he became quite irrational.

Whenever Julian spoke with his mother, Patriarch Bucham believed she was the key to saving his son.

Julian found himself caught between laughter and tears.

Faced with a father obsessively trying to rescue his son, Julian didn’t dare utter a word to the elderly woman, fearing his father might arrange a blind date for him with her.

He only felt comfortable glancing at girls under five years old.

He avoided looking at anyone older than that.

This was because he once noticed a cute six or seven-year-old girl and couldn’t resist taking a second look. When she saw him and called him “uncle,” he smiled back. Unfortunately, his father found out about this incident.

Within three days, his father brought the girl to the Bucham family’s mansion, insisting that Julian raise her as his child bride. This left Julian feeling bewildered.

The absurd patriarch claimed that the girl calling him “uncle” was justified due to their ten-year age difference, making it logical for her to address him that way.
