Chapter 1943

Upon entering the room, the butler invited Kevin to sit on the sofa.

“What would Master York like to drink?” the butler inquired politely.

His young master, Queen, had instructed him to treat Kevin as a distinguished guest.

Kevin replied, “Just a glass of warm water, thank you.”

“Certainly, please hold on for a moment, Young Master York.” The butler turned and left to fetch water for Kevin.

When Hugh entered, he found fruits and snacks arranged on the coffee table.

Hugh didn’t require the butler’s assistance; instead, he went to the refrigerator and grabbed a bottle of drink. After opening the lid and taking a sip, he felt instantly refreshed.

Hugh remarked, “It’s hot outside; a sip of something cold is just what I needed.”

The butler responded, “Second Young Master Queen, the Eldest Young Master will have words for you when he sees this.”

Hugh replied, “If he wants to discuss me, why did he leave a few bottles of my favorite drinks in the fridge? They’re clearly meant for me. I don’t drink much, just one bottle.”

The butler smiled, finding it hard to argue with the Second Young Master Queen.

“Alright, go ahead with your duties. I’ll entertain Mr. York. My brother and I are heading to a banquet later, so let’s eat early. Since Mr. York is here, please ask the kitchen to prepare two more dishes.”

“Understood.” The butler departed.

Hugh approached Kevin, seated himself beside him, and continued sipping his drink. After settling in, he looked at Kevin and said, “Mr. York, you truly are a remarkable individual—exceptional in every way.”

Kevin glanced at him and smiled, saying, “Hugh, you don’t need to flatter me constantly; I’m really not interested in you.”

It can actually be enjoyable, provided I don’t smile, maintain a straight face, and there is no noticeable difference between my brother and me.” Hugh then leaned closer to Kevin’s ear and asked in a low voice, “Mr. York, as we’re getting acquainted, I’d like to be your brother-in-law. May I ask a personal question? When it comes to my brother, are you the aggressor or the one being pursued? Given my brother’s temperament, he certainly won’t take things lightly, but judging by your demeanor, you likely prefer to take the initiative.”

Upon hearing Hugh refer to himself as his brother-in-law, Kevin thought to himself: “What a performance! Your siblings are quite the actors, treating me like a fool.”

He then replied quietly, “I haven’t yet approached your brother, so I can’t say who will attack or who will be on the receiving end. Ultimately, that isn’t what matters. What’s crucial is that I can win over your brother. Hugh, please share what your brother likes, and once I get close to him, I’ll let you know who will be in charge.”

Hugh nearly choked on his drink.

Was this guy, Kevin, genuinely interested in his brother, or was he putting on an act?

Whether Kevin’s interest was real or feigned, Hugh couldn’t decipher his intentions.

If Kevin knew that his sister was actually a woman, Hugh believed that would be impossible.

After analyzing the situation multiple times, Hugh felt certain that Kevin couldn’t possibly know his brother was, in fact, his sister.

Conversely, his sister often suspected that Kevin was aware of her true identity.

Unless Kevin had some sort of supernatural insight to see through the facade that his brother was a fake man, there was no way he could know.

Hugh really wanted to ask Kevin if he had such clairvoyance, but he hesitated; doing so would essentially reveal that his brother was not who he seemed.
