Zachary asserted, “That’s impossible! My mother-in-law has a sister, and her elder sister is Mrs. Audrey Stone. We all know Mrs. Stone’s children. Aside from Elisa, your sister-in-law has no other cousins.”

Kevin replied, “What about Mrs. Stone’s generation? Does she have any other sisters?”

Zachary responded, “Mrs. Stone has stated that she and her sister are the only surviving members of their family. Both of their parents and relatives have passed away, so they will be sent to an orphanage.”

Kevin remained silent.

Zachary continued, “You mentioned the daughter of the Farrell family, right?”

Zachary finally grasped the crux of the conversation.

“It’s Kathryn, the daughter of the Farrell family. There are many stories about the Farrells. If I delve into them, I could talk for days, but to summarize, Kathryn is the biological daughter of the head of the Farrell family. She was maliciously replaced by the housekeeper, whose daughter was raised as the Farrell’s daughter and is now the second young lady of the family.

Kathryn, the real daughter, grew up with the housekeeper’s elderly parents and endured significant hardship. I’ve heard that the housekeeper’s family treated her poorly. Eventually, this situation came to light, and Kathryn returned to the Farrell family, reclaiming her position as their young lady.

It’s only been a year since her return to the Farrell household. Though she appears weak and innocent, she’s actually quite cunning, much like my second sister-in-law, Camryn.”

Zachary interrupted, “I don’t have time for gossip, but I do know that my mother-in-law’s original surname was Farrell, which she changed to Howden after being adopted. However, Mrs. Stone didn’t mention…”

“Her original name is unknown to me, but after being adopted by the Howden family, she changed her name to Lisa Howden,” he said.

“I heard from Grandma that Mrs. Stone’s maiden name is Audrey Farrell (Fisher),” came the reply.

Kevin patted his thigh thoughtfully. “My sister-in-law must have some connection to the Farrell family. The surname Farrell is quite rare, and since Mrs. Stone shares that name, it’s possible she is directly related to them. It’s unlikely to be a distant relation, especially considering that my sister-in-law and Liberty resemble Kathryn, the future head of the Farrell family.”

After a moment of silence, Zachary spoke up, “When your sister-in-law returns, I’ll mention this to her and suggest she ask Mrs. Stone about it.”

Zachary hoped that Serenity would not find herself entangled in any more complications.

“Alright, let my sister-in-law inquire. I will head to Jensburg to investigate the Farrell family and see if there are any descendants living outside of it,” Kevin said.

Now in her fifties, if Mrs. Stone’s sisters truly were members of the Farrell family in Jensburg, it indicated that something significant must have happened to them decades ago.

Kevin believed that the Queen family was well-off in Jensburg, so he was sure he could uncover the Farrell family’s history.

This provided him with yet another reason to engage Hayden in conversation.

Zachary added, “Just conduct your inquiries discreetly; avoid causing a stir. Your sister-in-law and Liberty are currently living happily and peacefully, and I don’t want them drawn back into any conflicts.”

“That’s only natural, brother. I’ll handle it, so don’t worry,” Kevin assured him.

Zachary chuckled, “I hope you can keep your mouth in check.”

“I may be talkative, but I know when to speak and when to remain silent. I won’t involve my sister-in-law until the investigation is complete.”

The current Farrell family can be just as chaotic as it was in the past, much like the Meadspring Lafayette family. However, the Farrells do not wield the same power as the Lafayettes, and even without that power, there are constant disputes within the family.

The central issue is determining which of the two Farrell daughters will ultimately lead the family. Kathryn is the biological daughter, but she grew up in the countryside and has only returned for a year, leaving her foundation unstable. Meanwhile, her parents, brothers, and sisters-in-law all favor Shiloh, the adopted daughter.

Shiloh has been groomed for over 20 years to be the successor; losing everything now would be a hard pill for her to swallow. It’s difficult to believe she would accept such a fate.

Zachary asked, “How are you and Hayden?”

Kevin replied, “We just started to act; what can I do? She hates me now. If she had trained harder, I think she might have beaten me up a few times.”

A smile accompanied Kevin’s words, indicating that he was clearly unfazed by Hayden’s opinion of him.
