Josh smiled and made a wager with his beloved wife: “Let’s take a gamble. I say that Zachary and his wife will have a son as their first child.”

Jasmine replied, “…I don’t even want to bet against you.”

She felt there was little chance of winning.

“It’s probably best not to gamble. The York family hasn’t had a daughter for several generations. I can’t guarantee that Serenity’s first child will be a daughter, and I wouldn’t even dare to bet that she will have both a son and a daughter.” Jasmine believed that if she placed a bet, her chances of losing were quite high.

“Honey, bet boldly with me. If I win, I’ll give you a set of jewels, and if I lose, I’ll give you two sets. I just want to ensure you don’t lose out.”

Jasmine laughed and said, “What’s the point of such a wager? If you really want to gamble, let’s make it interesting. I bet Serenity and her husband will have both a son and a daughter. If I win, you can give me whatever I want; if I lose, I’ll give you whatever you want.”

Josh readily agreed.

“Then I’ll bet that Zachary and his wife will have two sons,” he said.

“It’s just a bet on two children, but Serenity is likely to have two, and those two will determine the outcome.”

Jasmine knew her friend would likely have a second child, but the chances of a third child were slim. Even if they wanted more, they needed money to support them, and Serenity didn’t want a third child.

With one child, Serenity would probably feel lonely, making it more likely for her to have a second child.

Unbeknownst to Serenity, the wager between the young couple stemmed from her friend’s craving for ice cream. After chatting with Jasmine, she sent photos to Zachary.

If there was any misunderstanding between husband and wife, Serenity thought it best to clarify things immediately rather than let it linger.

He kept his mouth shut; otherwise, it would only exacerbate the misunderstanding. When Zachary received the photos from his wife, he had just finished discussing business and was about to head home. As he looked at the images on the way, anxiety washed over him. He immediately called Serenity.

Once she answered, he frantically explained, “Serenity, that man is definitely not me! I have no other woman besides you! The absence of a frontal photo means it can’t be me; the other person must be afraid of being exposed if they took one.”

“Who is that woman? Damn it, she’s causing me so much trouble! I’m going to ask Josh to help me investigate this.” Zachary felt a strong urge to confront the woman in the photo.

“By the way, Serenity, who sent you the photo?” he asked.

Serenity replied, “I believe the man in the photo isn’t you. I just sent it for your reference. That woman is Analia; I remember her clearly, and there’s no doubt about it.”

Serenity was particularly struck by Analia since she had approached her before.

“It’s her?” Zachary reacted. He had only met Analia once, and after he sued her, Mr. Dawson had prevented his daughter from appearing in front of him again. As a result, he couldn’t recognize her. Even if he had seen her multiple times, he likely wouldn’t have been able to identify her. He didn’t pay much attention to women, as his heart and mind were solely focused on Serenity.

“Jasmine sent me the photo. It seems Josh was aware of it first, and then Jasmine forwarded it to me.”

Zachary silently cursed; why hadn’t Josh sent it to him right away? For a married man, his wife should always take precedence, while friends might not know where they stood.
