“Mr. Queen, Mr. York is here,” the secretary announced respectfully.

Hayden did not turn around but simply waved her hand, signaling the secretary to leave.

The secretary instructed Kevin to take a seat in front of the sofa in the reception area, poured him a glass of warm water, and then quietly exited the president’s office, closing the door behind her.

Once the secretary had left, Kevin stood up, walked over to Hayden, and extended his hand.

Hayden turned her head to look at him, confused.

Kevin said, “Mr. Queen offered me a cigarette. I haven’t smoked in a long time, but seeing Mr. Queen smoke has made me a bit tempted.”

After a moment of silence, Hayden took out a pack of cigarettes and handed one to Kevin.

“Could I borrow your lighter?” Kevin asked as he took it from her.

He typically didn’t smoke much because Jasmine and his sister-in-law disliked the smell of tobacco. Additionally, Zachary and Josh rarely smoked, leading Kevin to believe their fiancées likely felt the same way.

This understanding prompted the group to cut back on smoking.

Especially Josh; after Jasmine became pregnant, he quit smoking and drinking altogether.

Zachary and his wife were also preparing for pregnancy, refraining from smoking and drinking.

Kevin turned and walked to her desk, spotting a lighter that resembled a small car.

As he lit his cigarette, he remarked, “Hayden, your lighter is quite unique. People unfamiliar with it might think it’s just a toy car.”

Hayden did not respond to his comment.

After lighting his cigarette, Kevin returned to her side and watched her while he smoked.

Hayden asked, “Why is Mr. York staring at me like that?”

“Hayden, you’re looking more beautiful every day. I was thinking that if you wore a long skirt, a wig, high heels, and light makeup, you would look even better. You’re truly stunning.”

Hayden replied coldly, “Mr. York, if you want to wear a long skirt, fake hair, and high-heeled shoes to show off in public, feel free to let me know.”

Despite Hayden’s insistence on her identity as a man, Kevin refused to believe it and continued to treat her as a woman. He wanted her to wear a skirt, but she was too old to have ever worn one. In fact, she disliked skirts entirely. Her mother once bought her a lovely dress and secretly gifted it to her, but she gave it to her cousin instead, which drove her mother mad.

Her cousin had been thrilled to receive a skirt from her eldest cousin and praised her for her excellent taste, complimenting the beauty of the dress.

Kevin smiled and remarked, “Is it because I dress this way that Mr. Queen dresses like this?”

Hayden fell silent. She didn’t want to make any promises, unsure if Kevin would genuinely wear women’s clothing. His boldness in pursuing her openly, without concern for being labeled gay by others, indicated that he might indeed be thick-skinned enough to wear women’s attire.

Kevin then said, “It’s rare to see Mr. Queen smoking. I thought you didn’t smoke at all.”

After all, she was a woman.
