Donald was at a loss for words. Unable to voice his thoughts, he chose to remain silent, unaware that his silence was interpreted as agreement. This only reinforced Kevin’s belief that Hayden was a woman.
“Aren’t you gay?” Donald asked pointedly.
Kevin replied with a smile, “If Hayden is indeed a real man, then I’m gay. Regardless of my orientation, I’ll adapt for Hayden.”
Donald: “…”
He desperately wanted to ask Kevin how he knew the “eldest son” was a woman, but he feared that doing so would imply an acknowledgment of his daughter’s identity. If she found out, she would surely be upset with him again.
“You young people can handle your own affairs; we elders won’t interfere,” Donald remarked, trying to deflect the conversation.
Kevin smiled and said, “Uncle and Auntie, you both have such open minds, just like my parents. If you’re free sometime, I’d love to invite you to Wildridge Manor. My parents would surely enjoy becoming friends with you.”
Donald chuckled in response, “It’s been a while since I saw your parents after Mr. Bucham’s wedding. Let’s make plans to visit them soon.”
Still feeling a bit uneasy, Donald asked, “Kevin, I want you to know that neither I nor your aunt have any objections, and we won’t interfere with your pursuit of my family’s Hayden. You young folks should sort this out yourselves. But didn’t your grandma arrange a match for you? Are you sure you can handle her?”
Old Mrs. York held a position of great authority in the York family. Even Zachary, the family head, had to tread carefully around her, which is why he married Serenity despite her initial reservations.
Now, with the young couple’s relationship flourishing, Zachary felt that his grandma’s original decision had been the right one.
There was no assurance that Zachary wouldn’t hold his grandmother accountable, even if the husband and wife had always treated each other with the utmost respect.
Kevin stated confidently, “Uncle Queen, don’t worry. If I decide to pursue Hayden, I promise I won’t let her down, and the sons of the York family will never toy with anyone’s emotions.”
He never mentioned to Donald that the wife his grandmother had chosen for him was Hayden.
He intended to reveal this to Hayden in person.
It would surely come as a shock.
Currently, Hayden probably couldn’t fathom how he knew she was a woman, even if she tried to figure it out.
Kevin had learned from Donald that Hayden was indeed a woman, but he was also curious about how his grandmother had uncovered this detail.
If his second brother and sister-in-law hadn’t encouraged him to pursue Hayden directly, he might have doubted her identity, as he hadn’t found any discrepancies.
He simply trusted that his grandmother wouldn’t deceive him.
He was anxious, fearing that something might go awry with his grandmother, leading him to mistakenly pursue a man.
Fortunately, it appeared that his grandmother still cared for them, and it was unlikely she would mislead him regarding marriage.
Donald said, “I’m not concerned. Your York family is well-known for its commendable family values. Aside from the Johnson family in Annenburg, no other prominent family upholds such high standards.”
While Donald and his wife had a strong relationship, it didn’t imply that everyone in the Queen family was virtuous. After all, every family has its challenges.
Kevin replied, “The Johnson family has a close bond with ours. My sister-in-law is good friends with the young lady from the Johnson family, and Fifth Young Master Johnson is pursuing my sister-in-law’s cousin. The two families are already deeply connected.”
Please note this: Upon hearing Kevin’s words, he grew increasingly determined to assist Kevin in pursuing his daughter. Forming an alliance with the York family could yield numerous advantages for both families.
