A cold look flashed in Matriarch Farrell’s eyes. Shiloh believed her words; after all, Kathryn was her biological daughter. While Shiloh was innocent, the father-daughter relationship was still complex.

Matriarch Farrell suppressed her stern demeanor and spoke to Shiloh in a comforting tone, “Alright, don’t cry. That’s the third young master of the York family; it’s not surprising that he doesn’t treat you well.” She continued, “Shiloh, although our Farrell family is also wealthy in Jensburg, we are not among the top-tier families. We even have to look up to the Queen family, and they are not as prestigious as the York family in Wiltspoon. There are few families at our level.”

“I told you not to provoke Kevin. You didn’t heed my warning and went ahead to challenge him. I can help you with other people, but when it comes to Kevin, I really cannot intervene,” Matriarch Farrell explained.

“Mom,” Shiloh protested, “no matter what I did before, you always supported me.”

Matriarch Farrell replied, “I said, if it were anyone but Kevin, I could help. But since it is him, I have to be respectful. How can I defend you? Besides, you instigated this. If you hadn’t confronted Kevin, would he have kicked you out?”

Shiloh pouted and said, “I simply couldn’t stand him forcibly dragging Hayden into the hotel.”

Matriarch Farrell responded, “Young Master Queen didn’t even resist; what could you do? If Young Master Queen truly wanted to avoid Kevin, he has plenty of ways to do so. Can’t you see that Young Master Queen seems somewhat interested in confronting Kevin?”

Shiloh suddenly became agitated. “Mom, how can you say that? Young Master Queen is a man; how could he be interested in…”

Kevin? It’s evident that Kevin is utterly shameless; he is gay and will pursue whomever he desires, often pestering them. He is self-centered and only considers his own needs, disregarding others. Young Master Queen despises him deeply, as do the daughters of our Jensburg. They cannot comprehend how the York family could raise such a shameless individual. They also mention that the York family has a good reputation, implying they should be able to instill better values in Kevin. Honestly, how can their family values be considered good?

Mom, if you’re not taking your anger out on me, is it because Kathryn also has feelings for Young Master Queen? Young Master Queen treats Kathryn much better than he treats me. You see that Kathryn has a better chance of being with him, so you’re withholding your support from me, right?

In her frustration, Shiloh confronted Matriarch Farrell, accusing her of not loving her enough and favoring Kathryn, her own daughter.

Shiloh: “Mom, I have been raised by you since birth, and you cared for me until I was twenty-eight. I am your daughter!”

A flash of coldness crossed Matriarch Farrell’s eyes, but she maintained her composure. Instead of reacting with anger, she stood up, walked around the desk, and approached Shiloh, gently wiping her tears with a tissue.

Matriarch Farrell: “Alright, don’t cry. You are my daughter, and I have always treated you as such. You questioning me like that was hurtful.”

Shiloh realized her words had been irrational. Even though she was still deeply loved within the Farrell family, her status was gradually diminishing compared to Kathryn’s. She understood that securing her mother’s love was crucial for her to reclaim everything; otherwise, she would only have to watch Kathryn rise to prominence.

Shiloh: “Mom, I’m sorry, I misspoke.”

Matriarch Farrell: “My mother and I don’t have a sudden feud, so she won’t be upset. You have feelings for Young Master Queen, and my mother is aware that she previously disapproved of your pursuit of him due to your status as the successor of the Farrell family.”
