Callum: “My mother told me that since you’ll be the second youngest mistress of the York family, you won’t need to work as long as you can spend money. I have plenty of money, but I lack the time to spend it because I’m always working. After we get married, I’ll help you enjoy my wealth.”
Camryn smiled and replied, “I’m not in need of money right now.”
She was now firmly in control of Newman’s business, and her finances were thriving.
She no longer felt the need to hide her awkwardness.
Callum: “Darling, you may have enough money, but I still want you to spend mine. My wealth is for my wife. When we have children, I’ll take responsibility for raising them. You won’t have to worry about anything. All you need to do is look good and spend money.”
Camryn retorted, “Who is your wife? We haven’t even received our marriage certificate yet. This is all just talk. It’s a lovely idea, though.”
Callum: “If you’re not interested in being beautiful now, when will you be? We’re engaged, and marriage is inevitable. You are my wife.”
Camryn began to smile, and after a moment of laughter, she replied, “We can get the marriage certificate first, and the wedding can wait until my eyes are healed.”
Zachary and Serenity had yet to hold their wedding, and it took them longer to obtain their certificates.
“No, I’ve been waiting for so long already. What’s the harm in waiting a bit longer? Once you can see clearly and recognize my appearance, you’ll know if you want to spend your life with me. Then we can get the certificate and have our wedding.”
Callum felt confident, yet Camryn had not seen him yet. He preferred to wait until she could see him, understand who she was marrying, and then obtain the marriage certificate.
“I can accept you no matter how you look.” The men of the York family were known for their good looks, a sentiment Camryn had heard expressed more than once. She had also inquired about Callum’s appearance from her assistant, who told her that they looked like a beautiful couple together. Callum was determined to wait for her eyes to heal before obtaining the certificate. Neither he nor Camryn felt rushed.
In Jensburg, at the Queen family house, Kevin and Donald were once again enjoying grilled fish. It was clear that Kevin had caught and prepared the fish himself. Hayden, called back by her parents for another meal, noticed the two men happily sipping wine. She frowned and warned Kevin, “Mr. York, please don’t let my dad drink too much. His stomach isn’t good, and he shouldn’t have so much wine.”
Kevin, who had just toasted with Donald, expressed concern, “Uncle Queen, do you have stomach issues? If that’s the case, you shouldn’t drink. You should have told me earlier. If I had known, I wouldn’t have been drinking with you or having barbecues together for the past few nights.”
Donald reassured him, saying, “Kevin, it’s fine. I used to have stomach problems, but after retiring, I’ve been recuperating at home, and I’m doing much better now. I can eat and drink normally. I don’t drink often, but it’s nice to celebrate with company, so I’ll have just a couple of drinks.”
Kevin turned to Mrs. Queen and asked, “Auntie, is what Uncle Queen said true?”
Mrs. Queen replied, “Your Uncle Queen’s stomach has been fine for quite some time now. He can drink without worry. It’s rare for him to have company, so let him enjoy a drink with you.”
“He can be happy too,” she said.
“Mom, even if my dad’s stomach is healed, he still needs to be cautious. Dad is getting older, so he should limit his wine intake to half a glass at most.” Hayden just wanted to reduce the number of excuses Kevin had to stay at her house and eat.
While the food at Fortress Hotel was superior to what they offered at Greenrest Hotel, Kevin preferred to run to Hayden’s house for a meal, and his real intention was not to drink.
