But in the blink of an eye,

Ezra embraced Avah.

Jane’s adoptive mother, Galilea, was holding Enzo.

None of the Johnson family or the seniors noticed.

Jane leaned in close to Serenity’s ear and whispered, “You see, I’ve seriously fallen out of favor. The next generation—my parents and the others—only care about these two little ones now. If I go back to my mother’s house without bringing them, she’ll ask me what I’m doing there!”

Serenity nodded in understanding.

It reminded her of her own experience at Wildridge Manor when her in-laws were displeased without Sonny there.

Zachary, who was being entertained by Ben and his two uncles, stretched his neck to look at the baby girl as Ezra settled back onto the sofa with Avah in his arms.

Tim remarked, “You don’t need to read Mr. York; you won’t get a chance to hold my niece. It’s not easy to be her uncle.”

Tim could only hold his niece after his wife had taken her from him.

It was no exaggeration to say that his niece was adored by many.

Jared Murphy said somewhat sheepishly, “My uncle is the lucky one. Jane often brings the baby home, so I can hold my niece for as long as I want.”

As soon as he spoke, he caught the envious and jealous glances from Tim.

This made Jared feel even more embarrassed.

The elders began chatting about the doll scriptures,

and the young wives found their own topics to discuss.

Ben had no choice but to call several CEOs outside and sit with them under a gazebo in the yard.

Ben said to Zachary, “Since you’re here this time, stay a few more days.”

Zachary nodded, replying, “That’s the plan; Serenity really enjoys spending time with the two kids.”

The doctor is on his way back. Would you like him to help you and your wife check your pulse?”

Before Zachary could respond, Tim interjected, “What’s so unusual about a woman not being pregnant after a year of marriage? You and your spouse haven’t made any progress, and there’s no rush; no one has had a child yet. You both seem very relaxed about it.”

Ben replied, “It’s quite adorable to watch others give birth, but when I have a child, I know I’ll become irritable if it cries every day.”

He concluded with, “Just look at Tim and his wife.”

Before Fabian was born, the young couple eagerly anticipated the arrival of their baby. However, once Fabian arrived, he turned out to be quite the crier, often overwhelming the couple with his noise. If he weren’t their own child, they might have jokingly considered tossing him into the trash can.

That last remark was something Tim had said in frustration when he couldn’t handle his son’s crying anymore.

The young couple wished the old miracle doctor would arrive soon, hoping to escape the chaos of parenthood themselves.

Interestingly, when Fabian was handed to the old genius doctor, he was surprisingly calm and didn’t cry much at all.

The old man chided the young couple for their inability to handle a baby. He reassured them that it was normal for new parents to lack experience in child-rearing.

He also recalled that Lilian had been a challenging child, crying incessantly and frequently falling ill. If he hadn’t seen potential in Lilian, he might have given her up long ago.

Lilian thought to herself, “So, my son inherited her crying gene?”

She found it hard to accept. As she flipped through the photo albums collected by the master, she came across pictures of herself as a child.

As a child, she always believed she was an adorable, sensible, and intelligent little doll. She never anticipated that her son would be a crying cat.

Jared reassured her, saying, “Don’t worry. You’ve only been married for a year, so there’s no need to stress. As Tim puts it, let’s enjoy our life as a couple for now. We should at least have two or three years of fun before considering having a baby.”

Lilian regretted having a child so soon. She wished she had spent a few years enjoying life with Casey as a couple before starting a family.
