“I haven’t seen Dr. Carden yet. When he arrived, I was on a business trip. Your brother-in-law just picked me up, and now we are at his house, waiting to see Dr. Carden.”
Trenton still cared about Camryn, which made her very happy.
“Sister, no matter the outcome, don’t lose hope. If Dr. Carden can’t help, we can look for a better doctor,” Trenton reassured her.
However, everyone understood that if Dr. Carden couldn’t treat Camryn’s eyes, it would be unlikely for her to recover.
After a moment of silence, Camryn turned to comfort her younger brother: “Trenton, I won’t be sad regardless of the result. I’ve lived in darkness for so many years that I’m used to it. I just feel bad for your brother-in-law; he’s a wonderful man, and yet he wants to marry me, a blind girl.”
“Camryn,” Callum interjected, sighing. “I don’t feel wronged. From the moment I fell in love with you, I decided I would marry you, whether your eyes can be cured or not. If you can recover, that’s great; if not, I’ll be your eyes.”
Trenton chimed in over the phone: “Sister, I believe my brother-in-law is a responsible person. Don’t worry. We all know the York family’s background. Trust yourself and him.”
Camryn bit her lower lip, trying not to cry. After a brief pause, she spoke softly, “I understand. Trenton, how are things at school? Are you financially okay? If the food in the cafeteria isn’t to your liking, you can eat elsewhere. If you run out of money, let your older sister know.”
“Sister, I’m not short on money. You regularly send funds to my card, and I have some savings. It’s enough, and I also found a part-time job.”
I’m currently low on funds and want to gain some life experience while working. The food in the school cafeteria is delicious and varied, so sister, don’t worry about me; you can relax.
When Trenton was in elementary school, his parents sent him to a boarding school that provided room and board, and he wasn’t particular about food.
Camryn replied, “That’s good, that’s good.”
Trenton said, “Sister, please hurry and see Dr. Carden; I’m going to eat now. I hope that when I return to Wiltspoon for winter vacation, you can see me.”
Camryn smiled and replied, “Yes.”
After their conversation, Camryn returned the phone to Callum and asked, “Why did Trenton call you instead of me?”
Callum explained, “He probably thought you were in treatment, so he called my cell. When he left Wiltspoon, he didn’t save my contact info, but he still made sure to ask for my number. It shows that he cares about you as his big sister. Although he struggled to accept the situation for a while and didn’t want to see you, he never blamed or hated you. He understands that his parents made mistakes, but it’s hard for him to come to terms with the reality due to family ties.”
Camryn responded, “I know.”
Before her treatment began, it meant a lot that her younger brother called to check on her, support her, and offer comfort. She felt content, knowing their sibling bond remained strong.
“Come on, let’s go inside,” Callum said as he led Camryn to his home.
A few minutes later, he greeted, “Dr. Carden,” as he entered, surprising everyone else present.
Upon hearing that the young, peculiar woman was Dr. Carden, they quickly greeted her. Although Lilian had just given birth, everyone perceived her as an experienced mother, yet they were surprised by her youth.
