Liberty: “Mr. Lewis, it’s getting late; you should go to bed earlier.”

Duncan: “Well, you rest quickly. I’m a half-timer now, so it doesn’t matter if I go to bed later or wake up later.”

The two wished each other goodnight.

Duncan prepared to exit the car.

The bodyguard exited the wheelchair first and then slowly assisted him out of the vehicle.

Once Duncan was seated in the wheelchair, the bodyguards pushed him toward the main house.

At this time, everyone in the Lewis family was asleep.

However, as Duncan entered the room, before the bodyguard could turn on the light, the light illuminated the space, thanks to Mrs. Lewis, who had just come down from upstairs.

“Madam,”

the bodyguard greeted her respectfully.

“Mom, it’s so late; are you still awake?”

Mrs. Lewis approached and signaled for the bodyguard to go off duty, then pushed her son inside.

“You didn’t come back earlier, and I was worried. I couldn’t sleep. I listened closely to the sounds outside, and when I heard the courtyard door open, I checked the balcony and confirmed it was your car. I hurried downstairs. Why did you return so late?”

Liberty’s new restaurant had opened, and Mrs. Lewis had brought the other daughters-in-law to join her.

To the Lewis family, Liberty was destined to become part of their family, and they were eager to support the opening of her restaurant.

However, after dining together, they stayed for a while before leaving, as they understood she needed to focus on her business despite the grand opening.

Liberty was busy attending to her guests.

Since these noble ladies couldn’t assist her, they decided to leave so as not to interrupt her work.

“Once Liberty finishes her tasks, I will send…

“Her and Sonny are home again, and then I returned,” Duncan replied candidly.

Mrs. Lewis hummed thoughtfully, “Tell Liberty not to overwork herself. She can finish at nine o’clock in the evening since she’s the boss. There’s no need for her to stay at the restaurant until closing time.”

Liberty had also hired a foreman to help manage the waitstaff. Though she was a chef herself, she employed several other chefs as well. She could leave whenever she wanted and certainly didn’t have to stay until midnight.

If she could maintain this schedule, she needed to consider Sonny’s well-being.

“Today was a bit unusual. Liberty left work late, and since it was so dark out, I took the mother and son home because I was worried about them. Sonny fell asleep in my arms, and I held him close as I drifted off too.”

Mrs. Lewis gently pushed Duncan toward the sofa. He managed to grip the edge of the sofa, stand up from his wheelchair, and sit down.

Although he still couldn’t walk like an average person, after a period of rehabilitation, he was able to sit on the sofa independently and take a few steps without assistance.

The path to recovery was long, but with Liberty by his side, he felt fearless.

“Fortunately, when I dropped the mother and son off, I encountered a drunk man who kept staring at Liberty. I asked the bodyguard to escort her upstairs. Our bodyguard is big and strong, and his serious demeanor is enough to intimidate any drunkard.”

After hearing this, Mrs. Lewis remarked, “That sounds a bit unsafe. Liberty shouldn’t be out late at night. In the future, you should accompany her to her door. Don’t forget, she’s a young and beautiful woman.”

“Living alone with a three-year-old child, I can’t tell how many people are watching her.”
