Now that Liberty was in charge, her wardrobe had significantly improved.
She had always been attractive, but her appearance had suffered due to her weight. After successfully losing weight, her beauty was restored, much like a phoenix rising from the ashes.
As a stunning woman living independently with her son, Liberty drew considerable attention. Many men were captivated by her, especially knowing she was a divorced woman.
Who could guarantee that no one would harbor ill intentions?
“I encouraged her to accept Zachary’s offer and move into the Hoxmoor villas. I also own a house there. If she decides to move, I will live there as well. This arrangement will make it easier for us to support one another in the future. I can accompany her, or we can hire bodyguards.”
Mrs. Lewis remarked, “Liberty can be quite stubborn.”
She recalled her earlier attempt to persuade Liberty to leave Wiltspoon, only to be met with a firm rebuttal that left her speechless.
She recognized that Liberty was deeply principled.
Liberty had proven her resolve through her actions.
“She’s just that headstrong,” Duncan sighed.
Yet, he found himself drawn to that very stubbornness.
After a moment of silence, Mrs. Lewis said, “Her personality is reminiscent of her aunt’s. Liberty is that kind of person. At just fifteen, she managed to take her younger sister away from their toxic hometown, raising her alone and providing a wonderful education.”
While Serenity’s achievements were the result of her own hard work, they were also deeply rooted in her sister’s nurturing and guidance.
The parents of the sisters struggled to provide enough support for them to complete college. Serenity had a strong desire to learn more beyond her studies. It is believed that Liberty managed to earn some money through part-time jobs.
Liberty placed a high value on education and, at that time, was still a minor child.
Duncan mentioned, “Serenity is deeply appreciative of her elder sister, Liberty. As the eldest sibling, Liberty has taken on a maternal role. Now that Serenity is living a better life, she wishes to honor her sister. However, Liberty is concerned that accepting her brother-in-law’s affection and a house as a gift might lead to criticism of Serenity and negatively impact her sister.”
Liberty is reluctant to accept gifts from Zachary or any members of the York family, insisting that Serenity should remain independent of her sister’s influence.
I just spoke to Liberty on the phone and spent a long time trying to convince her to consider the well-being of Sonny and Serenity. Only when both mother and child feel secure can Serenity focus on raising her baby without worry.
“What did she say?” Mrs. Lewis asked, believing it would be better for Liberty to relocate to the Hoxmoor villas, which offer enhanced security.
Duncan sighed and replied, “She said she would think about it. I plan to discuss it with Zachary tomorrow so that Serenity can persuade her sister once more. Liberty’s top priorities are her sister and son. I hope Serenity can convince her.”
“For the sake of Serenity and Sonny, Liberty should move. Although nothing happened tonight, we cannot predict the future. We shouldn’t wait for an accident to occur before taking action.”
Mrs. Lewis poured her son a glass of warm water and asked, “When will you and Liberty be together?”
Duncan responded, “Mom, I…”
“I can’t walk normally right now, so I won’t discuss relationships for the time being.” He supported Liberty and cared for her, but he kept his feelings to himself. Now, sitting in a wheelchair, he felt he would only bring her down. “I believe Liberty treats you differently. You’re working hard to recover. Mom thinks that the day you recover, if you propose to Liberty, she will definitely accept. I’m looking forward to Sonny calling me grandma.” Although Sonny wasn’t her biological grandson, Mrs. Lewis was delighted to consider him as her own.
