Hearing Hayden’s words, Kevin felt sympathy for her working overtime and sensed her fatigue. He quickly responded, “Hayden, never mind. You can enjoy a glass of wedding wine on the big day. I wanted you to stay in Wiltspoon for a few days so I could show you around and have some fun. I’ll be wherever you are, and it’s perfectly fine to return to Jensburg with you; it doesn’t have to be in Wiltspoon.”
With a serious expression, Hayden replied, “Don’t you have anything better to do? Your older brother trusts that you’ll take over the catering business at York Corporation. One day, it will be your responsibility when the catering segment gets pushed out of the market. You seem to just idle around all day.” If he channeled even half of his energy spent on pursuing her into his business, he could become a major player in the industry. Kevin would argue, “I’m already a significant figure in the business world.”
“The various sectors of York Corporation are mostly stable,” he continued. “Besides, I’m not involved in the details. If something important comes up at the hotel, I handle it.” Kevin maintained a cheerful demeanor, which made Hayden want to pinch his cheeks and see if he would still smile.
“For me right now, winning over my wife is my top priority. If I fail to do so, I won’t be able to return to Wildridge Manor for the New Year. My grandma will surely kick me out. When that happens, I expect you to take me in. I’ll stay at your place for New Year’s Eve dinner.”
Suddenly, Kevin realized that this plan might actually work. It was October, and the New Year was fast approaching. Considering Hayden’s attitude, he had little hope of marrying her anytime soon, let alone getting engaged. If Grandma May truly kicked him out, he would need a place to go.
spent the New Year at home, dragging his luggage to join Hayden. Uncle Queen and Auntie Queen would be delighted to celebrate the New Year at Queen’s house. Ha ha. Hayden had a frown on her face. When the elevator door opened, she stepped inside immediately. As Kevin was about to enter, she suddenly pushed him back forcefully, causing him to fall to the ground. She quickly closed the elevator doors, leaving everything quiet. “Hayden, Hayden,” Kevin called out as he picked himself up and rushed to the elevator door, but it was too late. “She pushed me out without a word.” Despite being pushed aside, Kevin wasn’t angry. Instead, he hurried down the stairs. After running down two flights, he returned to the elevator entrance and took another elevator to the next floor. There was only one elevator in Queen Enterprise that accessed the top floor; the others couldn’t reach it, so he had to walk a bit to get there. Hayden knew that pushing him away wouldn’t really rid her of Kevin, especially since she had already told him she was going home to eat with her parents. He would likely go directly to her house anyway. However, it did provide a brief moment of peace. Kevin talked a lot, and while sometimes his words amused her, other times they frustrated her. Yet, being around him made her feel at ease. Perhaps it was because he recognized her as a woman. In front of Kevin, Hayden didn’t feel the need to be cautious about revealing her identity. As Kevin chased after her, Hayden’s special car exited Queen Enterprise, flanked by several bodyguard vehicles. He wasn’t worried; knowing she was heading back to Queen’s mansion, he could just drive there.
He went to buy many items initially, and each time he visited Queen’s house, he packed both large and small bags. On his way, Hayden encountered Kathryn, whose car had broken down. She exited the vehicle and examined it, but was unable to identify the problem.
