Matriarch Farrell’s expression softened considerably.

She said, “Don’t worry about what others say; they don’t want you, or Shiloh, to be in power.”

“Our Farrell family has endured for over a hundred years, experiencing both poverty and wealth. We’ve faced countless challenges.”

“The collateral lineage has been suppressed by our direct lineage for so long. Naturally, they are unwilling to miss the chance to take control. Those rumors are likely spread by them.”

It was impossible for Matriarch Farrell to reveal to her daughter that she was responsible for the deaths of her sisters.

Everyone who knew the truth was dead, and all evidence had been thoroughly destroyed. Reflecting on it, she realized that no one had slipped through the cracks, right?

Decades had passed, and she would never admit to it as long as there was no evidence to substantiate the claim.

The two nieces had been quite young at the time, so even if they had a vague memory, they likely could not recall the details, making it difficult to locate them.

Regardless, she had kept track of news about her nieces for decades, but no information had surfaced.

Wiltspoon was so vast that even if her two nieces were indeed there, finding them would not be easy.

Even if she did find them, she was not concerned.

Without the support of the Farrell family, her two nieces would struggle to survive. Their best chance would be to be raised by ordinary people. Lacking experience in business conflicts, they would hardly stand a chance against her daughter.

Moreover, the niece was no longer young, while her daughter was still youthful, giving her an advantage in age.

Matriarch Farrell said, “Kathryn, although our family is different from others, there will be much infighting. Besides your life assistant, you can’t trust anyone else.”

Kathryn replied, “Mom, I understand.”

Matriarch Farrell: “It’s good to know. Go back to your room and rest; I’ll give you a new car tomorrow.”

Kathryn: “Thank you, Mom. You should also get to bed early.”

After Kathryn finished speaking, she turned around and left with her file bag.

Within two minutes of her departure, Holden knocked on the door and entered.

“Mrs. Farrell, what did Kathryn take?”

Holden addressed his wife by her surname instead of her first name.

“Just a few small tickets.”

Matriarch Farrell stood up, walked away from her desk, and approached her husband. “I’m not in a good mood; come with me outside for a walk to enjoy the night view.”

“Why are you feeling down?” Holden asked with concern. “Did Kathryn upset you? She didn’t grow up with us and has never been particularly close.”

Matriarch Farrell responded, “It’s because you favor Shiloh. Kathryn is our biological daughter. Regardless of how she was raised, we need to remember that.”

Holden smiled. “Yes, I admit I have a bias, but you don’t show any favoritism towards Shiloh. Although Shiloh isn’t our biological daughter, she has been raised by us for over 20 years. Sometimes, those who are not our own feel more like family.”

“Since Kathryn returned, Shiloh’s treatment has declined significantly. Previously, you catered to her every desire. Now, she wishes to join Kathryn for dinner with Young Master Queen tomorrow, but you won’t allow it.”

Matriarch Farrell replied, “I bought a new car for Kathryn, but not for her. Shiloh feels very wronged; she just complained to me about it.”

Holden said, “Kathryn doesn’t seem to connect with us; this child is a…

“It’s a bit unpredictable,” Holden remarked. He had many opinions about his biological daughter, but he dared not express them in front of his wife.

“If she were truly that cunning, she wouldn’t be scolded by me every day. I’ve reprimanded her a lot. Now she’s a bit smarter and has gained some business experience, but it’s still not enough to make her a leader,” Matriarch Farrell sighed. “She may not resemble us, yet several DNA tests have confirmed that Kathryn is indeed our daughter.”
