Zachary asked, “What did Grandma say?” Evan replied, “Grandma said she wants to verify it herself, but honestly, she doesn’t care.” He muttered, “I’m not even sure I’m her real grandson. She seems intent on making me the first divorced man in the York family. I think she’s itching for a cane to beat someone. We’re too sensible and respectful; she can’t find an excuse to punish us. It feels like she’s deliberately pushing me toward becoming a scoundrel so she can have a reason to tear me apart.”

Zachary chuckled and said with a grin, “If Grandma heard you, she might just beat you to it.” Evan responded, “That’s true.”

Zachary continued, “You’re not thinking of mixing up the goal Grandma set for you with the woman of your dreams, are you?”

“Why would I mix them up? They’re completely different,” Evan muttered.

Zachary remarked, “It’s not impossible. You could consider the second young lady from the Johnson family in Annenburg as a model. You might also want to explore the idea of human skin masks.”

Evan wondered about the identity of the candidate Grandma had in mind but trusted her judgment to select someone suitable for him. He knew that girls lacking skills wouldn’t catch Grandma’s attention. Perhaps Serenity was the most ordinary choice. The Serenity Grandma picked for Zachary was someone he would grow with over time. Reflecting on Grandma’s faith in that master, Zachary felt confident that she would choose Serenity for him, similar to how Patriarch Bucham wanted his son Julian to marry rather than remain a bachelor for life.

The master had indicated that he and Serenity were destined to be together for a lifetime, and Grandma was determined to see that happen, with everything else being secondary. Now that his family was thriving, Serenity’s tolerance would surely help her bond with the noble sisters-in-law in the future.

Evan interjected, “Brother, do you mean the girl in my dream is likely the very goal Grandma has set for me?”

Zachary said, “If you want to investigate thoroughly, you need to connect with her up close and engage deeply to uncover more unknown details. Evan, the goal Grandma set for you is actually a book. The content in it may not be thrilling, but you have to read it to understand.”

“Thank you for your advice, brother,” Evan replied, finding his brother’s words to be sensible, which lifted his spirits.

“Your sister-in-law should be waking up soon. I’ll go check on her,” Zachary remarked. He glanced at the time and realized it was when his beloved wife usually woke up. He removed his apron, hung it behind the door, and set the breakfast on the dining table.

At that moment, Grandma May entered, having changed her clothes.

“Grandma, I’ve made breakfast. Please eat first; I’m going upstairs to see if Serenity is awake. After breakfast, I’ll accompany her to try on the wedding dress,” Zachary said.

Grandma May hummed in acknowledgment before responding, “I’m just trying on the wedding dress now. If it doesn’t fit, when will I have time to make any adjustments?”

Zachary replied with a hint of exasperation, “The wedding has been moved up, so we’re pressed for time. There shouldn’t be any need for alterations; Serenity hasn’t started showing yet.”

A master designer had been hired to create Serenity’s wedding dress, and it was tailored perfectly for her. Although she was pregnant, she had only recently conceived and hadn’t yet displayed any signs of pregnancy. Therefore, given the wedding was ahead of schedule, no changes to the dress were expected.

“That’s true. You should go check on Serenity; she’s likely to feel nauseous again when she wakes up,” Grandma May said, feeling sympathy for her future great-grandson who was causing Serenity such discomfort. She hoped for a great granddaughter. Though that hope was modest, everyone in the York family was looking forward to it.
