“Kids can be like that,” Mrs. Lane said with a smile. “It would be nice to be a little older. Sonny didn’t want to go to kindergarten, but he didn’t cry. Instead, he would deliberately slow down and dawdle. Miss Hunt, with her good temper, couldn’t handle him.” It was said that Sonny would dawdle before heading out because he was anxious about being late, fearing it would be embarrassing to admit if he was. Sometimes Miss Hunt, exasperated with him, would leave without him and take his little schoolbag, causing him to panic and cry.

Elisa remarked, “…It seems like children should just be observed.” She thought Sonny was a well-behaved child, unaware that what she observed was merely the tip of the iceberg. If she had to manage him every day, she might lose her mind. Mrs. Lane chuckled, “That’s the truth. When I see other people’s children, I find them adorable. I sometimes wish I could have ten or eight of my own. But when I actually have a child, I’d want to stuff them back inside me!”

Elisa reassured herself that when she and Remy got married and had a child, she would let Remy take care of the baby. She envisioned him as a father figure who could play and eat with their child while she avoided the responsibility of discipline, leaving it all to Remy. She acknowledged that her thoughts were a bit irresponsible.

“Eldest young mistress, Miss Stone is here.” As soon as Mrs. Lane entered the room, she called out to Serenity. Sitting in the living room, bored while watching TV, Serenity perked up at Mrs. Lane’s words, realizing that Elisa had arrived. She immediately stood up, laughing, and greeted her.

“Honestly, you have no conscience! You haven’t come to keep me company for days; I’m bored out of my mind!” she complained to Elisa. She wasn’t concerned about the wedding, and even if she wanted to help, she couldn’t return to the company to work.

She went to the bookstore, and Jasmine urged her to return home and wait peacefully as a bride. Accustomed to a busy life, she suddenly found herself at a standstill, unable to do anything, which made her feel uneasy. “It’s only been a few days. Didn’t I just go on a business trip two days ago? I finally settled the cooperation that I had previously discussed but couldn’t finalize. The contract was signed two days ago, and we have acquired another great client.”

Elisa affectionately held Serenity’s arm as they walked back to the sofa and sat down together. “Seren, I think we need to expand the vegetable market,” Elisa suggested.

“What do you mean?” Serenity asked.

“If there’s business, that’s great! After my wedding, we can look for land to rent and contract it,” Serenity replied.

Elisa released her arm, touched Serenity’s stomach, and smiled, “You’re carrying little baby York now. How will you manage to run around with me? After the wedding, won’t you two spend your honeymoon? If you don’t want to go far, Wiltspoon could be an option.”

Serenity replied, “The plan is to travel by car around Wiltspoon and nearby cities, so it’s still a honeymoon. By the way, how are things between you and Remy? I heard from Jane that his family visited your house yesterday.”

Elisa’s smile widened, and a blush crept onto her cheeks. Seeing her like this, Serenity realized something good was happening. “Remy’s parents, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law came to visit and expressed their support, which made my mother relax. She told me that if I want to marry Remy, I can go ahead, and she also said she wouldn’t interfere. She’s concerned about what would happen if she stays.”

“Here, she will become an adversary. She left this matter in my hands.” Serenity, pleased for Elisa, smiled and said, “Actually, my aunt agreed a long time ago, but she found it difficult to accept. Remy’s family is here to provide my aunt with a way out.” Elisa understood that her mother tended to follow trends. She replied, “It was Young Master Bucham’s intervention that caused my mother to relent. I found it quite annoying when I was being ‘pursued’ by him, but ultimately, I had no choice.” She added, “However, I must admit that Young Master Bucham has been a great help to both Remy and me. There is a downside to comparisons; my mother suddenly believes that Remy is a better fit for me.”
