Serenity’s thoughts returned to Remy and Elisa, two individuals she cared for deeply. Elisa said, “We plan to get engaged first. Auntie mentioned that after attending your wedding, they would choose a suitable day to make arrangements for our engagement. We’ll also select a wedding date together, and they’ll send it to us for review.” Serenity nodded, “You can get engaged now and hold the wedding in a year or so.” After a moment of reflection, she added with a smile, “By the time you get married, I might find it quite inconvenient.”
At that point, she would likely be pregnant, and she worried she might not even be able to attend the wedding. Elisa responded, “Then I’ll have the wedding with Remy after your baby is born. We’ll get engaged first and then obtain the marriage certificate, with the wedding to follow. I’m sure Remy won’t mind.” With a marriage certificate, they would be legally recognized as a couple, and she wouldn’t make Remy wait another ten or eight years.
Serenity reassured her, “You don’t need to worry about my schedule; this is a significant event in your life, and you deserve to be happy forever.” Elisa insisted, “No, I want you to be at my wedding. I want you to witness my happiness, just as I want to witness yours. It wouldn’t be fair otherwise. Among my mother’s relatives, I only have two cousins— you and Sister Hailing— and neither of you can miss my wedding.” Elisa was determined and promised to discuss this with Remy.
