Hugh muttered, “Sister, are you preparing for your future marriage? Even if you get married, you can still manage Queen Enterprise. We are our parents’ only two children, and the family property must be divided equally. Sister, half of the company belongs to you as well; I believe it’s best if we don’t change our respective roles.”
Hayden replied with a hint of amusement, “I’ve been working hard for so many years; why wouldn’t I want to step back and take a break? You’re a man; you should stand firm and take on the responsibilities that come with that.”
“I don’t think it’s solely my duty to take over the business. You, too, sister, have the right to inherit. We both have responsibilities. When do you plan to get married? I can take the lead during your wedding and honeymoon. I can also step up if you become pregnant and have a child. No, Kevin should be the one in charge. Since he’s marrying you, he should take the lead.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Hayden slapped Hugh again.
“I don’t owe you anything. Don’t make excuses for me. Go back to our parents. It’s fine to meet big businessmen and see if there’s a girl you like, but you’re not young anymore; it’s time to get married.”
Under his sister’s watchful gaze, Hugh refrained from saying more and smiled contentedly.
Either Hugh fell in love with Kiera at first sight or he encountered another captivating beauty. His nature was to appreciate, seek friendship, and treat women as confidantes.
“You have plenty of confidantes; Ms. Caron is not the only one. Just remember, if you can handle Mr. Julian’s pressure, then go for Ms. Caron. But if anything goes wrong, don’t expect me to help you clean up the mess; as long as Mr. Julian doesn’t seriously harm you, I won’t get involved.”
Hugh exclaimed, “Sister, you’re so harsh! For the…”
Hugh exuded a great deal of confidence; he felt no need to befriend Kiera.
That was Julian’s territory. To thrive, it was wiser not to compete with the tiger for food, as one could easily become the tiger’s meal.
Hugh said, “I’m leaving, sister. Don’t miss me.”
Hayden couldn’t help but laugh and replied, “I…”
Hugh gestured as if to roll on the ground.
“Br*t!” Hayden muttered with a sly smile.
The age difference between the siblings was merely ten minutes, yet it felt as if Hugh were ten years younger than Hayden.
After Hugh departed, Hayden didn’t linger too long.
Before long, the weather shifted.
It changed from sunny to cloudy, then to rainy.
Not expecting the rain, Hayden had forgotten her umbrella, so she had to take shelter under the gazebo.
Fortunately, the rain was brief.
