Serenity quickly transitioned into the role of a hands-off shopkeeper, even before the baby was born. She decided to leave the responsibility of addressing the education issue to Zachary. It’s often said that if children neglect their homework, their mothers will be gentle and caring, but if they do complete it, the mothers will be quite strict. Concerned for her child’s future, Serenity entrusted Zachary with overseeing homework and other responsibilities. He appeared serious and was determined to manage the children effectively. With a smile, Zachary said, “Okay, I’ll be a baby daddy.” He had already purchased numerous parenting books in preparation for his new role.

Zachary then asked, “Are you hungry? I’ve made breakfast.” Serenity replied, “I’ve been hungry for a while. I was just about to take Sonny downstairs when you came in.” Zachary picked up his nephew and took Serenity’s hand with his free one. “Come on, let’s go downstairs for breakfast.”

As they exited the room, Serenity noticed the house was still quiet, indicating that everyone was still asleep. She quietly asked Zachary, “When did you return to your room last night? Did everyone party late?”

“The wine was excellent and very potent,” Zachary replied with a smile. “At first, I thought it was great, but then I ended up quite drunk.” He recalled that nearly everyone who attended the wedding celebration had overindulged, even Julian, who typically had a high tolerance for alcohol. It was Kiera who ended up taking Julian home. Interestingly, neither Kiera nor Julian knew each other’s addresses, but she managed to help him into the vehicle. Although Kiera enjoyed drinking, her tolerance was low. She had wanted to drink to excess, but after witnessing many toasting to Julian, she found herself a bit overwhelmed.

Despite her struggle, she firmly resisted her addiction and refrained from drinking a single drop all night. She had chosen to wait until Julian was drunk before sending him home. Serenity chuckled, “Fortunately, we picked a great day for our wedding, and we can relax at home for the next two days.” If everyone had been intoxicated and had to work the next day, very few would have been able to get up in the morning. When the three of them made their way to the first floor, Grandma May emerged. She had chosen to live on the first floor because she felt too old to climb stairs. “Good morning, Grandma.” Upon seeing Grandma May, the young couple greeted her cheerfully. Sonny added sweetly, “Good morning, Grandma, it’s early.” Grandma May smiled in response: “Good morning to you both! Why are you up so early? You should sleep a bit longer.” Seeing Serenity made Grandma May feel reassured. The previous evening, Serenity had returned to the wedding room and had not appeared at the wedding banquet again, which had caused Grandma May some concern. Thankfully, after a restful night, Serenity looked lively and well. Grandma May had personally chosen Serenity as her eldest grandson’s wife. Serenity replied, “Grandma, I’ve slept enough, and now I’m hungry. Let’s eat something first.” Grandma May smiled and said, “I can smell breakfast—Zachary prepared it, right? Go ahead and eat; I’ll take a walk for a bit.” Grandma May had just woken up and wasn’t feeling hungry, so she planned to stroll around the yard before coming back for breakfast.
