“Mom,” Elisa said as she rolled down the car window, addressing her parents who had stopped the vehicle. “My sister-in-law might be in labor. She mentioned having a stomachache. We need to get her to the hospital quickly!”
Audrey asked, “Who are you taking to the hospital?”
“My sister-in-law,” Elisa replied. “She’s about to give birth.”
Darrell then inquired, “Where is your sister-in-law?”
Elisa turned her head but realized Alice was not in the back seat; only a spare bag occupied the space. She froze for a moment.
Realizing her mistake, she slapped her thigh and exclaimed to Remy, “Quick, turn around! My sister-in-law is still at home!”
Remy responded with silence.
Audrey couldn’t help but laugh again. It was unexpected that this kind of mix-up happened with their daughter, not their son.
Feeling embarrassed, Elisa blushed and admitted, “My sister-in-law asked me to pick up her things and head to the hospital, but I just grabbed her stuff and rushed out, thinking she had already left…”
As Remy turned the car around, he chuckled and said, “Elisa, are you trying to make me laugh myself to death? When you called, I hurried out with you without even thinking of anyone else.”
Once they turned the car around, Remy stopped to let Audrey and Darrell back in before heading home together. Luckily, they hadn’t gone very far. If they had arrived at the hospital and found Alice missing, they would have been terrified.
Ten minutes later.
“Sister-in-law! Sister-in-law!” Elisa shouted as she entered the room.
Alice was leisurely finishing her breakfast at the dining table. Upon hearing Elisa’s voice, she smiled and replied, “I’m here.”
Elisa burst in like a gust of wind. **Books Chapters Are Updated Daily. Join & Stay Informed About All Book Updates…**
