Alice hugged her son and kissed him several times, then smiled and said, “I gave birth to him; naturally, he resembles me, and his mouth looks like it has no trace.” She glanced at Clive and added, “The baby belongs to both of us and looks like me—like you, but more like me.” Clive replied affectionately, “I may not look as good as you, but I look better when I resemble you.” Everyone laughed.
Both Alice and Clive were attractive, and while it was too early to determine the baby’s looks, he was certainly a charming little doll. After giving birth, Alice needed to rest, so everyone left the hospital after visiting for half a day. Clive and Mrs. Lafayette stayed behind to take care of Alice and the baby.
After leaving the hospital, Liberty, Serenity, and Zachary went to the supermarket. Serenity and Liberty purchased a variety of nutritional products and sent them to the Stone family. Audrey remarked about her two nieces, “My home is well-stocked, yet you still bought so many supplements. The ones everyone brought during Alice’s pregnancy weren’t sufficient. There was barely room for all the supplements because there were so many.”
Alice had consumed many supplements during her pregnancy but found it overwhelming and couldn’t finish them all. When she learned that Serenity was pregnant, she asked Audrey to bring a large supply of supplements from home for her. Serenity laughed and responded, “Auntie, your family is part of my aunt’s family. My sister and I contributed a little love from both of us. My cousin is giving birth now, so she won’t vomit anymore and can catch up. Throughout her pregnancy, my cousin had a large belly but didn’t gain weight herself.”
Alice had experienced significant vomiting, making it difficult for her to eat, and while she didn’t vomit…
In the later stages of her pregnancy, she did not gain any weight, even after becoming a mother. Now that she had given birth, she needed to take some supplements during her confinement period, so it would be ideal to send her some.
“I’d like to thank you both on behalf of Alice,” Audrey expressed, grateful to Serenity and Liberty for their support.
She then turned to Serenity with concern, asking, “Have you still been vomiting recently? If it persists, you should visit the hospital to see if the doctor can prescribe something to alleviate it. Alice took the medication prescribed by her doctor, and fortunately, she only vomited once at night during the later stages, allowing both mother and baby to thrive.”
Audrey worried that if Alice continued to vomit excessively, it could affect the baby’s weight.
Serenity reassured her, saying, “I haven’t vomited since the wedding. I can eat and sleep well now, so I don’t have to envy Jasmine.”
Unlike Serenity, Jasmine did not experience vomiting during her pregnancy and was able to eat and sleep without issue. If her belly hadn’t started to grow, it would have been hard to tell that she was pregnant.
The Bucham family no longer kept Jasmine’s pregnancy a secret, as it had been confirmed. Although Serenity did not explicitly state that she could not drink at the wedding, everyone assumed she was pregnant, so they abstained and returned to their rooms early to rest.
Those who were still waiting for Serenity to be kicked out of the York family would be disappointed. It wasn’t that Serenity was unable to have children; she simply hadn’t been pregnant before. Perhaps, as Zachary suggested, they were just focused on their life as a couple.
“That’s good,” Audrey said.
“I haven’t seen you in half a month. You look much healthier and better than you did before the wedding,” she remarked. Audrey noticed Serenity’s complexion and felt a sense of relief. Turning to Zachary, she said, “Zachary, please take care of Serenity in every way possible. Do your best to keep her happy. She can eat and sleep well now, but be careful not to let her overeat. If the baby gets too large, it may complicate her delivery.”
“Spend more time with her. Take her out to relax and enjoy herself as much as possible; it will ease her labor in the future. Alice went for walks every day during her pregnancy, and there are plenty of fruits and vegetables in the backyard.”
Zachary replied gently, “Auntie, don’t worry. I will take great care of Serenity and fully support her in everything she wants to do.”
