She was unconcerned about her image, and with a sudden gust of wind, she swept all the food off the table. Mrs. Janzen barely moved her chopsticks. She continued to smile as she observed Carrie devour the food. Once Carrie set down her chopsticks and used a tissue to wipe her mouth in satisfaction, Mrs. Janzen asked, “Will you return by yourself, or should I arrange for someone to take you back?” Carrie replied, “I’ll take a taxi. Could you please help me with the fare?” Mrs. Janzen hummed in agreement, “Okay, then you can take a taxi home.” After saying this, she pulled out another thousand dollars in cash, placed it in front of Carrie, and said, “This is for your fare.” Carrie accepted the thousand dollars but did not linger for long. She stood up and thanked Mrs. Janzen, saying, “Thank you for inviting me to dinner, Mrs. Janzen. I hope we can enjoy a successful partnership in the future.” Mrs. Janzen smiled, nodded, and replied, “We will certainly work together happily.” Carrie then left. Mrs. Janzen remained seated at the table. When she saw Carrie get into a taxi, she settled the bill, stood up, and exited the fast-food restaurant. Her associates were waiting for her outside. Once in the car, she instructed the person in the passenger seat, “Assign someone to monitor Carrie’s every move within the Newman family. Look for opportunities to assist her. We cannot allow that blind woman from the Newman family to maintain control.” “Understood,” the well-groomed older man in the passenger seat replied respectfully. Meanwhile, at the Newman family villa, Camryn sat on the sofa in the hall while Lilian examined her eyes and took her pulse. Callum, standing nearby, watched anxiously but refrained from speaking out of fear of interrupting Lilian. As Lilian began writing the prescription, Callum asked with concern, “Dr. Carden, how are Camryn’s eyes? Are they—”
“Is she recovered now?” Lilian asked as she wrote out the prescription. “Not fully recovered yet. If she doesn’t continue treatment, this is as far as she can improve. She can see, but not at a distance, and her clarity is limited—similar to someone with severe myopia. After some time with the right treatment, her vision should return to normal. I will also prescribe medication to help her regain her strength.”
After hearing Lilian’s words, Callum felt relieved. However, when he learned that Camryn would be prescribed medicine for her health, he grew anxious again. “What’s wrong with Camryn’s health?” he quickly inquired.
Lilian glanced at him, then at Camryn, and replied, “Miss Camryn appears healthy outwardly, but she is actually in serious trouble due to neglecting her own well-being. This will make it difficult for her to have children in the future.”
After sharing a glance with Callum, Camryn said, “Dr. Carden, please help me. Once my eyes are healed, I will need you to prescribe medicine to help take care of my body.” Living with her biological mother had proven more challenging than living with her stepmother, which had resulted in her physical issues. She had survived thus far thanks to her father’s spirit watching over her. As for her own mother, she had expressed a desire to harm her, stating she had considered strangling her, but the nanny had intervened and prevented it.
“Don’t worry; I promise to help you restore your health so that you can have a healthy child after marriage. However, you may need to take the medication for an extended period,” Lilian assured her.
Camryn replied, “No defenses; I’m not afraid. As long as you can…”
“Regulate it properly.” Fortunately, Callum invited Dr. Carden to meet with her. Dr. Carden possessed exceptional medical skills and could assist her in healing her eyes and regulating her body.
