Camryn personally escorted Lilian outside. Callum remarked, “Dr. Carden, you’re having dinner at the villa this afternoon, right? We’ll return to the villa later.” Every time Lilian visited Wiltspoon, she stayed at the villa. It was spacious and offered beautiful scenery, so she wouldn’t easily become bored. However, she couldn’t stay for more than a few days. She had a little baby at home, and her partner couldn’t take care of the child all the time since he also needed to attend to the apprentice’s studies. Additionally, she had to see her patients again. It was only her friendship with Serenity and others that encouraged her to extend her stay in Wiltspoon by a couple of days. Lilian smiled and said, “I’ll return to the villa in the evening, as I have to treat a patient this afternoon.” Knowing that Callum had invited a disciple of a renowned doctor to help with Camryn’s eye treatment, someone close to the York family extended a similar invitation. Given her connection with the York family, Lilian was invited to visit their patients. She didn’t decline. When seeing a patient, she would treat any ailment that was curable. If there was no hope, she would directly inform the family and encourage the patient to enjoy life, eat what they wanted, and go wherever they wished. However, she advised them not to create too many lasting memories. After all, mortality is a part of human existence. Birth, aging, illness, and death are natural processes. Despite being a doctor, Lilian knew there was little she could do for those with incurable diseases. After all, doctors are not gods; they cannot bring the dead back to life or challenge fate. They face these realities with composure. Callum said, “Okay, I’ll head back early this evening and prepare some dishes for you, Dr. Carden.”
He smiled and said, “Then I will enjoy a good meal tonight. The next time I visit, I’ll bring my chef along. Mr. York, you can provide him with instructions and guide him so that I won’t have to go to Wiltspoon when I’m hungry.”
