Tim was not fond of Lilian visiting the York family, particularly because he disliked her praising Callum’s cooking abilities and claiming that the culinary skills of the youngest Johnson sibling were comparable. Lilian spoke the truth: Lee and Callum’s cooking talents were indeed similar, but there was still a distinction. Furthermore, Lee rarely cooked, and as a sister-in-law, Lilian felt too embarrassed to ask him to prepare meals for her. The best solution was to request Callum to provide guidance to her family’s chef, to which Callum readily agreed. They both watched as Lilian got into the car Camryn had lent her for her trip to Wiltspoon. Lilian visited Wiltspoon to help treat Camryn’s eyesight, and Camryn always treated Lilian as an honored guest, covering all her expenses during the stay.

“Camryn, let’s head back inside. It’s still quite hot out here,” Callum said, taking his fiancée’s hand as they walked towards the main house.

Upon reaching the front door, they heard someone shout from outside: “Camryn!” Callum didn’t recognize the voice, but since it called out to his fiancée, he felt his expression darken. However, Camryn immediately identified the voice; the only person who spoke to her so audaciously was her half-sister, Carrie. Was Carrie out of prison? Camryn wasn’t sure. She only knew Carrie had received a light sentence and would be released soon, though she hadn’t kept track of the exact date—likely at the end of the year or the following year. It caught her off guard that Carrie was out now.

“It’s Carrie, my half-sister,” Camryn whispered to Callum. “Let’s keep the fact that I can see from her for now.” Aside from those whom Callum had arranged, all the staff at the Newman family home were aware that Camryn could see, while the original servants were not.

Although Camryn was blind, she felt at ease in her own home and could still move around comfortably. The servant, unaware that her eyesight had returned, did not expect any changes. All they knew was that Callum had hired a disciple of a miraculous doctor to treat Camryn’s eyes, but the results remained unknown to them. After Callum ensured that his fiancée would remain loyal, most of the original Newman family servants either resigned or were sidelined, taking on menial tasks in the yard. Callum took it upon himself to care for Camryn closely, arranging for new staff to assist her. Even the former housekeeper of the Newman family could not tolerate being marginalized and left on their own accord. Now, the majority of the household staff were newcomers, and the few remaining had never mistreated Camryn.

Callum said, “Why should you let her know? Of course you can’t let her know.” He continued, “When she comes out, she will definitely make a scene with me. Life has been too peaceful lately. A bit of conflict would relieve the boredom. Don’t take any action; let me handle it.”

“Okay, but if you can’t handle it, you must tell me, not Dalton,” he added.

Camryn replied, “Don’t think like that. Brother Dal and sister-in-law Melissa have a marriage certificate; they are legally married. You still see him as a rival? I’ve always thought of Brother Dal as an older brother and never had any other feelings.”

Callum replied, “I know what he’s really thinking.”

Camryn shot back, “When Brother Dal came over, you two were shouting. When he’s not around, you just hum. Callum, I didn’t realize you were so good at pretending until today.”

Callum walked her to the villa door again and said, “I called him brother to remind him that he can only see you as a sister and nothing beyond that.”

“Do you have any other ideas? He can’t take my wife from me.” Camryn replied, “I won’t talk to you, you envious person.” Callum smiled gently, “Jealousy is a trait common among the men in our York family.”
