“Carrie,” Owen whispered, “please don’t act impulsively.”
He smiled again and addressed the security guard, saying, “Let’s just stay here. Everything will be fine. We’ll wait until your second young lady is willing to see us, and then we’ll go in.”
Carrie pressed her lips together, saying nothing, overwhelmed with fear.
Those she once bullied and reprimanded were now difficult to confront.
Camryn, who had married into the York family, was different.
Although Camryn had not yet received a marriage certificate with Callum, her engagement alone made her seem superior.
Carrie silently cursed, believing Callum was merely playing with Camryn. When he grew tired of the game, he would abandon her, and Carrie would celebrate by buying a truckload of firecrackers to set off in joy.
After receiving a call from the security guard, the butler explained, “The second young lady has a sister named Carrie. She used to deceive the eldest lady, which led to her being imprisoned by her. Is she out now? The second young lady does not have a good relationship with her sister, who frequently bullies her.”
He continued, “If I ask the second young lady whether she wishes to see her sister and she declines, then let them go.”
The security guard quickly responded.
Thankfully, they fulfilled their duty and allowed him entry without knowing it was the sister of the second young mistress.
This Miss Carrie had harmed their eldest young lady and had also mistreated the second young lady.
Even during her time in jail, she deceitfully claimed she was on a trip. Her dishonesty indicated she must be a bad person.
The butler approached the pavilion.
Conversations among those sitting and chatting ceased when they noticed the butler’s arrival.
“What’s going on?”
Callum inquired of the butler, who entered the pavilion.
“Second Young Master, the Second Young Miss, named Carrie Newman, along with her two cousins, has arrived. They wish to see the Second Young Mistress. Should I allow them in?”
Callum glanced at Camryn.
Camryn extended her slender hand, picked up the teapot from the stone table, poured half a cup of tea into her own empty cup, and served tea to everyone before placing the teapot down and continuing to sip her tea.
She savored the fragrant tea, even praising it as excellent.
After drinking less than half a cup, she calmly stated, “If you can, let her in, but don’t disturb me.”
The butler waited quietly for a few minutes. Upon receiving her response, he respectfully acknowledged it and left the pavilion to avoid further disturbance.
He promptly informed the security guard, requesting him to relay the Second Young Lady’s wishes.
Jasmine, unfamiliar with Carrie, asked curiously, “Isn’t Carrie in jail? I thought she wouldn’t be released until next year, and yet she’s out now?”
She then looked at Josh, puzzled as to why he was unaware of this.
Josh replied innocently, “It doesn’t concern me. I don’t care whether she lives or dies.”
Jasmine smiled and remarked, “You said it yourself. In Wiltspoon, nothing can escape your notice.”Books Chapters Are Updated Daily. Join & Stay Informed About All Book Updates…
