“You’ll know just by looking at it.” Camryn was aware that her father had a will, but she did not possess the property certificate for her house. Her aunt informed her that, since she was only two years old at the time, her mother was supposed to hold the property certificate, even though her father had transferred the house into her name while he was still alive. She had never seen the real estate certificate and, being blind, she couldn’t view it. Although her vision had returned to normal, her stepfather and mother’s room was secured with a password lock that she didn’t know how to unlock. Callum suggested asking someone to break down the door. Camryn considered waiting for her brother to return and asking him if he knew the password so she could open it herself. Carrie had come out early, so Camryn planned to enlist her help to enter the room, retrieve the certificate, and then have Carrie clear out all their belongings. From that point on, the home would belong solely to her and Trenton. Of course, if Trenton chose not to live with his eldest sister, she wouldn’t be bothered by it. When Trenton graduated, Camryn intended to give him her brother’s share of the property, allowing him to make his own decisions. Whether he wanted to buy a house or a car or reinvest, she would not interfere.
“Of course I know. Once you let me in, I’ll open the door to my parents’ room. I want to retrieve the real estate certificate and see whose name is on it.” Carrie thought that since Camryn was blind, even if she managed to get into her parents’ room and obtain the certificate, she wouldn’t be able to see whose name was on it. Carrie assumed it was in her parents’ name. What could Camryn do? If her biological father had been more cautious and had foresight, he wouldn’t have been killed by her.
Camryn’s biological father lacked foresight. He understood that he and his wife had a daughter, but she didn’t share the same feelings. He likely had only one child in his life—his daughter. Out of love for her, he would willingly relinquish all the names associated with him. The property was intended for his only child. However, he did not anticipate that his love for her would ultimately secure a portion of the family estate for her. When his daughter reached adulthood, she would grow strong enough to reclaim everything that rightfully belonged to her. Camryn stated calmly, “Carrie, I will make you believe.”
