“Julian, do you have feelings for my sister? I often think that what you said to her was somewhat premature. It’s like giving her a vaccination,” Kendrick remarked. Though he practiced martial arts and had a tough demeanor, he wasn’t foolish.
“Brother,” Kiera interjected, “What nonsense are you spouting? Julian is my friend.”
“Julian, do you know why my sister hasn’t been in love at twenty-four? Before turning twenty, she was a champion fighter. Boys were too intimidated to approach her because of her boxing and kicking skills. After she turned eighteen, she started treating men like pals. That’s why our mother is worried she might never get married,” he explained.
“Brother,” Kiera said, ready to retaliate. “Clearly, you and our eldest brother have decided that I won’t get married. You both intend to support me for life so I don’t have to worry about it. I’m not in a rush; I just haven’t met a man who truly appreciates me yet. If we don’t connect, I’d prefer to remain single rather than settle for less. Besides, I’m only twenty-four, which is still quite young. Eldest brother, at thirty-two, you should really be the one feeling anxious. Don’t all your classmates already have one or two children? You’re the only one with the audacity to say something to me.”
Julian smiled and replied, “Kiera is wonderful. She just hasn’t found the right person yet, but when the time comes, she will naturally understand.” His goal was to make Kiera fall in love with him, rather than see him as just a friend. Since Kiera had no romantic experience, she instinctively viewed the men around her as companions.
