The wolf dogs in the backyard were off-leash at night. It was still early, and the servants responsible for them had not yet secured them. When Carrie’s shouts echoed, the four wolf dogs sprang into action and dashed toward the villa’s gate.
Carrie wanted to break down the door, but when she saw the dogs charging toward her, fear gripped her, and she stepped back. She could no longer muster the courage to shout, her face etched with terror.
It was clear that the wolf dogs frightened her greatly. Having been bitten previously, she carried a psychological scar from her encounters with them. Despite the butler compensating her for the rabies vaccine and serum, the site of her bite still ached slightly, and she endured nightmares of being chased and bitten by a wolf dog.
Deep down, Carrie harbored resentment toward Camryn. She had never unleashed the wolf dogs to attack her, nor had she truly taken advantage of her in the past. While Camryn always appeared quiet and weak, making her seem like an easy target, she was actually quite cunning. Each time Carrie fell victim to Camryn’s schemes and complained to her mother, who favored Carrie, her mother would scold her for not being able to handle a blind woman.
“Trenton? Trenton, when did you return?”
Upon seeing Trenton, Carrie took a couple of steps forward but hesitated to approach the door, fearing the wolf dogs would be waiting to bite her.
“Trenton, please hurry and get someone to pull these beasts away. My legs feel weak at the sight of them.”
You don’t realize how cruel your eldest sister, that blind woman, can be. She actually allowed the wolf dog to bite me. Trenton, you need to express your anger on my behalf.”
Trenton wanted to scare off the wolf dogs. However, since he was rarely home, they didn’t listen to him, which was fortunate as they didn’t attack him.
It was the servant who heard the barking and quickly came outside. Upon witnessing the scene, the servant hurried over.
“Master, I didn’t frighten you, did I?”
The servant apologized, “I just got up, and they all ran to the front yard without my noticing. I will take them to the back and tie them up immediately.”
During the day, the servants were not allowed to let the wolves and dogs roam freely without Camryn’s instructions, due to concerns about potential harm to people.
They must be tethered and attended to at night before being allowed to roam freely.
“It didn’t scare me, but they don’t listen to me either. Please take them back to the backyard and tie them up,” Trenton said.
The servant glanced at Carrie and finally understood why the wolf dogs were running wildly into the front yard so early in the morning.
He called some of the wolf dogs and led them back to the backyard.
After the servant left with four dogs, Trenton opened the door.
“Second sister, you came here so early and screamed, making the eldest sister angry. You brought this on yourself,” Trenton remarked.
Trenton didn’t have a fondness for Carrie. Nevertheless, since they shared the same parents, his attitude was relatively mild.
